[Features of systemic microcirculation in patients with chronic dermatoses].

We investigated the parameters of microcirculation of eyes in women of 36-55 years age with atopic dermatitis, microbic eczema and diffuse alopecia. In persons with atopic dermatitis the signs of non-uniformity of capillary caliber and their branching were observed. These abnormalities were accompanied by an increase in the quantities of functioning anastomoses, loops and corners of capillaries. Abnormalities of microcirculation which accompany microbic eczema included alterations in microvessel parallelism, microaneurysm, venous sacculation, pathological forms of branching, vascular new growt

Dermatomyositis with hemorrhagic myositis.

A 64-year-old Japanese female, diagnosed as dermatomyositis with acute interstitial pneumonia, complained of acute abdominal pain. Computed tomography of the abdomen showed hematoma in the right retroperitoneum and left rectus-sheath. Angiogram showed multiple small aneurysms on left iliolumbar artery and a horizontal linear flush, suggesting active bleeding foci in the muscles. Although arterial embolization therapy was effective for hemostatic treatment, she died of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura and multiple organ failure without respiratory insufficiency. Other causes of microaneurysm

Glomerular adaptations to renal injury or ablation. Role of capillary hypertension in the pathogenesis of progressive glomerulosclerosis.

A reduction in the effective glomerular capillary surface available for filtration by renal ablation or acquired renal disease results in functional and structural adaptations which lead to endothelial, mesangial and epithelial cell dysfunction. The structural lesions that ensue include capillary microthrombosis, mesangial expansion, microaneurysm formation, epithelial cell detachment with hyalin deposition, and basement membrane thickening. These alterations lead to segmental and eventually global glomerulosclerosis, closing the loop of a positive feedback mechanism that perpetuates and accel

Pathology of stroke.

Large cerebral infarctions were caused by atherosclerosis with or without thrombosis in the proximal circumflex (cortical) cerebral arteries. Hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, hypoxidosis, and vasospasm were considered to induce endothelial cell injuries, which might be the primary events not only in atherosclerosis, but also in arteriosclerosis and arteriosis formation. Morphogenesis of atherosclerosis and causes of associated thrombosis were also discussed. Small cerebral infarcts were produced not only by arteriosclerosis, arteriosis, and atherosclerosis, but also by arterionecrosis-deriv

[Histological and morphometrical studies on small arteries in normal brainstems with special reference to the pathogenesis of the hypertensive brainstem hemorrhage].

Plasmatic arterial necrosis and microaneurysm of small arteries are preceded by smooth muscle cell loss and the rupture of these arterial lesions is a direct cause of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage. The hypertensive brainstem hemorrhage occur exclusively in the pons. To elucidate whether there are differences of underlying arterial lesions between each part of the brainstem or not, small arteries in normal 34 autopsied brainstems were investigated histologically and morphometrically. Histological study revealed the predilection of the occurrence of plasmatic arterial necrosis, microaneu

Optical coherence tomography angiography in diabetic retinopathy: an updated review.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a common microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus. Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) has been developed to visualize the retinal microvasculature and choriocapillaris based on the motion contrast of circulating blood cells. Depth-resolved ability and non-invasive nature of OCTA allow for repeated examinations and visualization of microvasculature at the retinal capillary plexuses and choriocapillaris. OCTA enables quantification of microvascular alterations in the retinal capillary network, in addition to the detection of classical features ass

A review on computer-aided recent developments for automatic detection of diabetic retinopathy.

Diabetic retinopathy is a serious microvascular disorder that might result in loss of vision and blindness. It seriously damages the retinal blood vessels and reduces the light-sensitive inner layer of the eye. Due to the manual inspection of retinal fundus images on diabetic retinopathy to detect the morphological abnormalities in Microaneurysms (MAs), Exudates (EXs), Haemorrhages (HMs), and Inter retinal microvascular abnormalities (IRMA) is very difficult and time consuming process. In order to avoid this, the regular follow-up screening process, and early automatic Diabetic Retinopathy det

Role of blood flow and impaired autoregulation in the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy.

Several mechanisms are implicated in the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy. They include biochemical, hemodynamic, and hormonal factors, all of which have an important role in the development of diabetic retinopathy. These factors are not independent of each other, but rather they interact and together are responsible for the well-known lesions of vascular occlusion, microaneurysms, hemorrhages' hard exudates, and eventually new vessel formation.

Amelioration of diabetes-like retinal changes in galactose-fed dogs.

Diabetic retinopathy, the leading cause of blindness among young adults in the developed world, is characterized by vascular changes of the retinal capillary bed. Beagles fed a diet containing 30% galactose develop retinal vascular lesions that are similar to those observed in diabetics. These progress from initial retinal changes which include aldose-reductase-linked formation of pericyte ghosts and the subsequent development of acellular capillaries, microaneurysms, and intraretinal hemorrhages to the appearance of occluded vessels, areas of nonperfusion, and intraretinal microvascular abnor

Subarachnoid hemorrhage in an adolescent with spontaneous occlusion of the left middle cerebral artery and reconstruction by collateral vessels (Moyamoya phenomenon).

A case of a 12-year-old girl with subarachnoid hemorrhage and a hematoma in the pineal region is reported. With cerebral angiography, an occlusion of the left middle cerebral artery and its reconstruction by numerous dilated lenticulostriate collateral vessels were demonstrated. Subarachnoid hemorrhage in children with Moyamoya phenomenon is a rare event that may result from rupture of dilated collateral vessels or associated microaneurysms.

Distinguising Proof of Diabetic Retinopathy Detection by Hybrid Approaches in Two Dimensional Retinal Fundus Images.

Diabetes is characterized by constant high level of blood glucose. The human body needs to maintain insulin at very constrict range. The patients who are all affected by diabetes for a long time affected by eye disease called Diabetic Retinopathy (DR). The retinal landmarks namely Optic disc is predicted and masked to decrease the false positive in the exudates detection. The abnormalities like Exudates, Microaneurysms and Hemorrhages are segmented to classify the various stages of DR. The proposed approach is employed to separate the landmarks of retina and lesions of retina for the classific
