Analysis of prognostic prediction and nursing intervention value in PD patients based on nomogram model.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the independent risk factors for technical survival in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD), construct a nomogram model for predicting 1-, 3-, and 5-year technical survival rates, and validate the clinical value of nursing interventions in improving PD patients' prognosis. METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 475 patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) who received PD at Huangshi Central Hospital from February 2010 to April 2025. Patients were randomly divided into a training group (n = 332) and a validation group (n = 143) at a 7:3 ratio.

Effect of nursing intervention on quality of life of patients with gastric ulcer based on KANO model.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the quality attributes of nursing interventions for improving the quality of life of patients with gastric ulcers using the KANO model, and to design and implement targeted nursing measures and evaluate their effects. METHODS: Clinical data from 136 inpatients with gastric ulcers hospitalized between January 2022 and January 2024 were analyzed. Patients were divided into two groups based on the nursing approach: the experimental group (n=68), which received nursing care based on the KANO model, and the control group (n=68), which received routine care. The two groups wer

Extending Hospital-at-Home to nursing homes: findings from a novel care model in Singapore.

BACKGROUND: We implemented a Hospital-at-Nursing Home (HaNH) pilot program in a nursing home to reduce acute hospital bed utilization and allow residents to receive right-sited care in familiar environments. METHODS: A prospective data collection of the Hospital-at-Home (HaH) program was conducted from November 2023 to December 2024 in a regional general hospital. RESULT: 16 HaNH enrollments were completed, comprising three admission avoidance cases and thirteen early supported discharges. Pneumonia (56.3%) and urinary tract infections (18.8%) were the most common diagnoses. The median lengt

Innovating Nursing Education Through 3D Technology: Development of a Congenital Heart Defect Model.

Nurse educators have a unique capacity to push innovation by combining clinical expertise with emerging technologies. Using three-dimensional printed manipulatives to teach complex topics such as congenital heart defect management can deepen students' understanding of patient conditions and interventions through enhanced visual and kinesthetic interactions. Advancing such innovations requires collaboration with interdisciplinary partners to navigate technical development and patenting. A structured approach to pilot testing and refinement ensures the transition from concept to sustainable prac

Comprehensive nursing model for diabetic foot ulcers: A strategy to improve prognosis and quality of life.

Diabetic foot (DF) ulcer is one of the common complications of diabetic patients, with high incidence and amputation rate, which seriously affects the quality of life and health of patients. Therefore, how to effectively prevent and treat DF ulcers and reduce amputation rate has become an urgent problem in the medical field. As a comprehensive nursing model for patients with DF ulcers, comprehensive nursing intervention is designed to improve the therapeutic effect and prognosis and reduce the rate of amputation. Convenient sampling method was used to select 360 patients with DF who received r

Evidence-Based Nursing Model in Interventional Thrombolysis for Acute Lower Extremity Arterial Embolism.

Acute lower extremity arterial embolism (AE) is a serious clinical emergency, and, if not treated in time, it can easily lead to limb ischemia and necrosis and eventually facing amputation, which seriously damages patients' physical and mental health. In the past, the conventional drug thrombolytic therapy had slow and limited efficacy, and the best time for treatment is easily delayed, while arterial dissection and thrombectomy treatment, although fast, is traumatic and has many complications, which is not easily accepted by patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of evid

The Roy Adaptation Model: A Theoretical Framework for Nurses Providing Care to Individuals With Anorexia Nervosa.

Using a nursing theoretical framework to understand, elucidate, and propose nursing research is fundamental to knowledge development. This article presents the Roy Adaptation Model as a theoretical framework to better understand individuals with anorexia nervosa during acute treatment, and the role of nursing assessments and interventions in the promotion of weight restoration. Nursing assessments and interventions situated within the Roy Adaptation Model take into consideration how weight restoration does not occur in isolation but rather reflects an adaptive process within external and inter

Nutrition and dementia care: developing an evidence-based model for nutritional care in nursing homes.

BACKGROUND: There is a growing volume of research to offer improvements in nutritional care for people with dementia living in nursing homes. Whilst a number of interventions have been identified to support food and drink intake, there has been no systematic research to understand the factors for improving nutritional care from the perspectives of all those delivering care in nursing homes. The aim of this study was to develop a research informed model for understanding the complex nutritional problems associated with eating and drinking for people with dementia. METHODS: We conducted nine fo

A Life-Course Conceptual Model of Stigma in Adults With Tourette Syndrome: Implications for Nursing Science.

A qualitative study of 34 adults with Tourette syndrome explored how stigma operates across interpersonal and structural contexts to shape psychosocial outcomes. Interviews revealed 4 interrelated processes: (1) developmental origins of stigma and identity formation, (2) anticipated and internalized stigma in adult relationships, (3) structural stigma and occupational vulnerability, and (4) adaptive coping, concealment, and social withdrawal. Symptom visibility amplified stigma across contexts, reinforced by misconceptions and media portrayals. Findings highlight the life-course impact of Tour

Application of a continuous nursing model based on medical treatment combination in patients with stroke sequelae.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a medical consortium-based continuous nursing model in patients with stroke sequelae. METHODS: A total of 60 patients with stroke sequelae were randomly assigned to either the intervention group or the control group, with 30 patients in each group. Patients in the control group received routine continuous nursing, and those in the treatment group received continuous home nursing from community medical institutions. The clinical nursing effects were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: After receiving continuous home nursing f

Patients' Experiences of a Virtual Nursing Model in an Acute Care Setting: A Mixed-Methods Study.

BACKGROUND: Virtual nursing--defined as patient care delivered by a remotely located experienced nurse using information and communication technologies--has expanded significantly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. But few studies have explored patients' experiences with virtual nursing in the medical-surgical acute care setting. PURPOSE: This mixed-methods pilot study aimed to explore patients' experiences with a co-caring virtual nursing model as part of their care in a medical-surgical acute care unit. METHODS: Data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and

Application of the Omaha System-Based Nursing Model in the Perioperative Care of Patients Undergoing Pancreaticoduodenectomy.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate whether a nurse-delivered perioperative clinical pathway operationalized through the Omaha System is associated with improved recovery outcomes after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). METHODS: This single-center pilot study used allocation by admission sequence. Sixty-eight adults undergoing PD from February to September 2025 were allocated to routine perioperative nursing (control, n = 34) or routine care plus a nurse-delivered Omaha System-based pathway (observation, n = 34). The relationship between internet addiction and daytime sleepiness in nursing students: a moderated mediation model.

BACKGROUND: Internet addiction is highly correlated with daytime sleepiness, but the underlying mechanisms between the variables need to be further explored. The aim of this study was to investigate sleep quality as a mediating factor and depression as a moderating factor to further elucidate the potential risk factors between internet addiction and daytime sleepiness in nursing students. METHOD: A self-report survey was conducted among 1,578 nursing students from eight universities in China. The survey included measures of internet addiction, sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, and depression
