Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) of the cervix in women older than 40 years of age is extremely rare. Embryonal RMS can appear deceptively benign both clinically and histopathologically. Diagnosis is made on the basis of histomorphologic and immunohistochemical findings. A high index of suspicion is, however, needed to make the diagnosis, as they can masquerade as benign polyps. Myogenesis is required to generate skeletal muscle tissue and to maintain skeletal muscle mass. Decreased myogenesis under various pathogenic conditions results in muscular atrophy. This report describes a 2-day-old male infant who presented with a perianal swelling since birth. The swelling was painless, exhibited a soft to firm consistency, and progressively increased in size over a period of 2 months.
