OBJECTIVE: We reported on transcanal endoscopic myringoplasty in 25 cases preliminarily in 2014. Now our number of transcanal endoscopic myringoplasty reached to 209 ears and allowed us to adequately investigate the visibility, necessity of canalplasty, treatment results, and multivariate analysis.

AIM: To investigate the relationship between a patient's smoking habits and surgical outcome of his/her myringoplasty.
METHOD: The medical records of patients who had undergone myringoplasty were retrospectively reviewed for age, gender, smoking habits, perforation size, perforation location, surgical technique, graft material, and surgical outcome. Surgical success was defined as the perforation having remained closed 12 months postoperatively.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to present, myringoplasty case results in our department. Different factors were studied to confirm their prognostic value.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 126 myringoplasties from 2006 until 2010 were reviewed, collecting patient-related details, descriptions of the anatomical defect and the most interesting surgical aspects.
RESULTS: Subtotal perforations (35.7%) were the most frequently observed. In 89.7% of the operations, the transcanal approach was preferred. The medial technique (underlay) to the tympanic membrane was the most performed (97.6%).

OBJECTIVES: Analyze the anatomical and audiological success rates of myringoplasty in children with craniofacial anomaly, cleft palate and compare them to a control group.
METHODS: Retrospective review of medical records for all children who underwent myringoplasty between 1997 and 2007. The following data was recorded: sex, age, perforation side, size, location and etiology, surgical approach, type of myringoplasty, graft material, season of surgery, preoperative status of the operated and contralateral ear, history of previous otologic surgery, and adenoidectomy or tonsillectomy.

The results of surgery in a series of 452 ears having either myringoplasty (281 ears) or tympanoplasty (171 ears) were studied in relation to the experience of the surgeons. We present new material in the surgical repair of the perforated tympanic membrane. Forty-two patients with a unilateral tympanic membrane perforation and eight patients with bilateral perforations had their perforations closed with peri-umbilical superficial fascia via a transtympanic route. Of the 58 tympanic membranes repaired, 51 were successful while seven failed. The technique is cost-effective and quick, making bilateral repairs possible under the same anaesthetic.
