Five patients with chronic instability of digital joints presented with instability and functional disability. Two patients had ulnar collateral ligament damage of the thumb metacarpophalangeal joint and another had chronic multidirectional instability due to radial collateral ligament, dorsal capsule and palmar plate laxity of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb. Dorsolateral dislocation of the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint is a common injury to the hand. Closed reduction of the dislocation anatomically realigns the avulsed ligaments; thus patients may be managed non-operatively. INTRODUCTION: Distal radius fractures (DRF) are the most common fractures of the upper extremities and incidence is expected to continue rising as life expectancy increases. Palmar locking plate stabilizing has since become the standard treatment for dorsally displaced DRF. The aims of the study were to determine whether a volar lunate facet fragment is present in 67 displaced intra-articular distal radius fractures and to investigate which factors are associated with reduction loss after treatment with a volar plate and locking screws. Distal Radioulnar Joint (DRUJ) dislocation is a commonly missed injury. A high clinical suspicion is required as the dislocation may not be obvious in the conventional views of radiographs. Volar DRUJ dislocations are far less common than the dorsal ones. Since triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) is the major stabilizer of DRUJ, it is common that the irreducible DRUJ dislocation is associated with TFCC tear. We report a patient who had irreducible volar DRUJ dislocation blocked by the volar lip of sigmoid notch, with only isolated volar capsule rupture.

Recent PIP fractures are challenging trauma in terms of diagnosis as well as treatment. It must be remembered that the final outcome will have a considerable impact on the global finger and hand function. INTRODUCTION: Malunion following open reduction and internal fixation of distal radius fracture threatens wrist function. Fixed-angle palmar plates provide rigid fixation that is stable over time; however, the pronator quadratus sectioning required by the anterior approach entails a risk of pronation strength loss and of distal radioulnar joint destabilization. Wrist arthrodesis can obtain better appearance, hygiene, and ease of daily care, with some degree of functional improvement in patients with cerebral palsy with a severe wrist flexion deformity. Rigid fixation using a dorsal plate and screws has been accepted as a reliable technique, although hardware-related problems are relatively common. We describe a volar plate fixation technique for wrist arthodesis in cerebral palsy, which can allow concomitant flexor tendon release and avoid a prominent hardware and a cosmetically undesirable scar on the dorsum of the wrist.
