Navigation-Guided Thoracolumbar Transpedicular Instrumentation Using the 7D Flash™ Navigation System (SeaSpine) in a Patient With L1 Vertebral Fracture and Spinal Deformity Secondary to Prior Instrumentation for Idiopathic Scoliosis: A Case Report.

We present the case of a 63-year-old woman with a history of spinal instrumentation for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis who sustained an L1 vertebral body fracture after a fall. The patient exhibited sagittal imbalance and flatback deformity, with significant anatomical distortion from prior surgeries. A posterior thoracolumbar transpedicular instrumentation from T12 to L3 was performed using the 7D Flash™ Navigation System (SeaSpine, Carlsbad, CA, USA). Image-guided navigation allowed for accurate screw placement despite complex anatomy, without requiring intraoperative CT. This case highligh

Complete Regression of 11 Hepatic Metastases in Metastatic Pancreatic Adenosquamous Carcinoma and the Role of GPT in Patient Navigation.

Complete responses in metastatic pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma (ASCP) are extremely rare and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9) interpretation is difficult during cholestasis. A 65-year-old man underwent Whipple procedure on 29 May 2025; pathology confirmed ASCP (pT3 pN2, R0). Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on 26 June 2025 showed 11 liver lesions interpreted as metastases. Treatment with folinic acid, fluorouracil, irinotecan, and oxaliplatin (FOLFIRINOX) began on 7 July 2025. From cycle 2, high-dose intravenous vitamin C, doxycycline and later azithromycin were added

Pathways to inclusion: A scoping review exploring equity, diversity, and inclusion in mental health and addictions patient navigation programs.

Mental health and addictions (MHA) patient navigation programs have gained traction in recent years, helping clients overcome barriers and access suitable resources. Equity-deserving communities (EDCs) continue to experience significant disparities in MHA outcomes, due to additional systemic barriers to care. This scoping review explores the approaches and practices utilized by MHA patient navigation programs to support the unique needs of EDCs. A search was conducted in four electronic databases. Articles were required to be focused on MHA patient navigation services and EDCs (including low-i

Increasing Prenatal Care Compliance in At-Risk Black Women: Findings from a RCT of Patient Navigation and Behavioral Incentives.

BACKGROUND: In the USA, infant mortality remains a major public health concern, particularly for Black women and their infants who continue to experience disproportionately high mortality rates. Prenatal care is a key determinant of infant health, with inadequate prenatal care increasing risk for prematurity, stillbirth, neonatal loss, and infant death. The aim of the present study was to determine if concurrent delivery of patient navigation and behavioral incentives to at-risk Black pregnant women could improve prenatal care attendance and associated maternal and infant outcomes. METHODS: P

Navigation-Assisted Percutaneous Fixation of an Anterior Column and Posterior Hemitransverse Fracture in an Elderly Patient: A Case Report.

INTRODUCTION: Acetabular fractures in elderly patients are often the result of low-energy trauma and are complicated by osteopenia, comorbidities, and limited physiologic reserve. Minimally invasive approaches, such as percutaneous fixation have emerged as viable alternatives to open reduction in selected fracture patterns. CASE REPORT: We report the case of a 76-year-old male with a history of coronary artery disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and osteopenia who sustained a comminuted right anterior column and posterior hemitransverse acetabular fracture following a ground-level fall. Accuracy and Precision of Computer-assisted Navigation Compared With Patient-Specific Instrumentation and Conventional Methods in Total Ankle Arthroplasty.

INTRODUCTION: Total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) has become a viable alternative to ankle arthrodesis (AA) in recent years. However, implant longevity is a concern because malalignment of either the tibial or talar implants has been shown to predispose to premature wear and necessary revision surgery. Thus, customized surgical tools such as computer navigation and patient-specific instrumentation have been used to theoretically improve intraoperative alignment of implants. The primary outcome of this study is to compare alignment between a computer-assisted navigation (CAN) system for TAA, a preex

Patient randomized trial of a targeted navigation program to improve rates of follow-up colonoscopy in community health centers.

BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer (CRC) screening by annual fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is an accessible and cost-effective strategy to lower CRC incidence and mortality. However, this mode of screening depends on follow-up colonoscopy after a positive FIT result. Unfortunately, nearly one-half of FIT-positive patients fail to complete this essential screening component. Patient navigation may improve follow-up colonoscopy adherence. To deliver patient navigation cost-effectively, health centers could target navigation to patients who are unlikely to complete the procedure on their own. OBJEC

Patient-specific and intra-operatively modifiable factors assessed by computer navigation predict maximal knee flexion one year after TKA.

PURPOSE: There are multiple factors affecting maximal knee flexion (MKF) after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The aim of the study was to investigate whether patient-specific factors (PSF) and surgically modifiable factors (SMF), measured by means of a computer-assisted navigation system, can predict the MKF after TKA. METHODS: Data from 99 patients collected during a randomized clinical trial were used for this secondary data analysis. The MKF of the patients was measured preoperatively and 1-year post-surgery. Multiple regression analyses were performed to investigate which combination of v

Comparison between patient-specific instruments and conventional instruments and computer navigation in total knee arthroplasty: a randomized controlled trial.

PURPOSE: The current study investigated the accuracy in achieving proper lower limb alignment and individual component positions after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with 3 different instrumentation techniques. It was hypothesized that patient-specific instruments (PSI) would achieve more accurate lower limb alignment and component positions compared to conventional instruments (CON). METHODS: Ninety knees in 81 patients were randomized in 1:1:1 ratio into CON, computer navigation (NAV) and PSI groups to receive TKA. The surgical routines were standardized. The lower limb mechanical axis and i

Navigating Advanced Illness Goals And Treatment with Digital Engagement (NAVIGATE): a protocol for a randomised controlled trial of a website for caregivers of patients with serious illness.

BACKGROUND: Surrogate decision-makers (SDMs) of patients with serious illnesses (PSI) face significant challenges in making end-of-life decisions, including feeling unprepared and uncertain due to lack of clarity on what patients and they themselves value. We developed a digital SDM-focused intervention (Careverse) that provides educational materials and tools for SDMs to initiate and discuss values conversation with patients and clinicians. The aims of this study are (i) to test the impact of Careverse on SDMs self-reported engagement in care planning behaviours and (ii) to evaluate whether C

Comparison between diaphragmatic-navigated and self-navigated coronary magnetic resonance angiography at 3T in pediatric patients with congenital coronary artery anomalies.

BACKGROUND: Coronary magnetic resonance angiography (CMRA) is being increasingly used in pediatric patients with congenital coronary artery anomalies (CAAs). However, the data on the free-breathing self-navigation technique, which has the potential to simplify the acquisition plan with a high success rate at 3T, remain scarce. This study investigated the clinical application value of self-navigated (sNAV) CMRA at 3T in pediatric patients with suspected CAAs and compared it to conventional diaphragmatic-navigated (dNAV) CMRA. METHODS: From April 2019 to March 2022, we enrolled 65 pediatric pat
