Applications of within-stimulus errorless learning methods for teaching discrimination skills to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities: A systematic review.

Errorless learning is an instructional strategy used widely with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The present systematic review aims to update the literature on the application of 'within-stimulus' errorless procedures. The protocol was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42018118385). Twenty-eight articles including 283 participants met the operationally defined inclusion criteria. In the majority of cases, the errorless learning procedures evaluated led to improvements in acquiring discrimination skills. Most of the reviewed studies evaluated stimulus fading. Results ar

Academic Technologies for College Students With Intellectual Disability.

Institutes of higher education have encountered an increase in enrollment of students with intellectual disability (ID). This increase is due, in part, to societal movements (e.g., inclusive participation in life activities) and federal legislation. There are potential benefits to both individuals with ID and society when students within this population complete college (e.g., earn certificates, a collection of completed courses and experiences, increased future employment opportunities). Nevertheless, there are barriers to college that students with ID need to overcome to have successful expe

Learning disabilities and the menopause.

How menopause affects women with learning disabilities is a neglected area of research. Women with learning disabilities experience the same physiological effects of the menopause as others, including hot flushes and night sweats, but difficulties in understanding and communication mean that additional supports are often required. They are less likely to report the psychological difficulties or symptoms associated with menopause than women in the general population. Menopause is usually earlier in women with learning disability and earlier still for those with Down's syndrome. Debate about hor
