Substrate-Driven Modulation of Nutritional Composition and Bioactive Compound Profile in Pleurotus pulmonarius Cultivated on Diversified Agri-Waste.

Pleurotus pulmonarius (Fr.) Quél. is a commercially important edible mushroom recognized for its nutritional and nutraceutical value. However, the influence of alternative agricultural waste substrates on its biochemical composition remains insufficiently characterized. This study investigated the effect of four cultivation substrates, coconut waste (PpC), paddy husk (PpP100), paddy husk supplemented with sawdust (PpP20) and rubberwood sawdust as control (PpS), on the macro- and microelement profile, secondary metabolite composition, and antioxidant activity of P. pulmonarius fruiting bodies.

Size Matters: Influence of Particle Size on Antioxidant, β-Glucan, and Anti-Inflammatory Potential in Pleurotus floridanus (Agaricomycetes).

Cellular damage resulting from elevated levels of free radicals can lead to persistent health issues. Pleurotus floridanus, an edible white oyster mushroom, is rich in β-glucans with potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In this research, we examined the β-glucan content, total phenolic content, as well as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential of hot water extracts with varying particle sizes (< 75, 75-154, 154-300, and 300-600 μm) of both whole and sliced fruiting bodies of P. floridanus. The findings revealed that the в-glucan content increased as the particle size incre

Detoxification of pulping black liquor with Pleurotus ostreatus or recombinant Pichia pastoris followed by CuO/TiO2/visible photocatalysis.

Cellulose-pulping requires chemicals such as Cl2, ClO2, H2O2, and O2. The black liquor (BL) generated exhibits a high chemical oxygen demand (COD), five-day biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), and chlorophenol content, along with an augmented colour and increased pH. BL is often discharged into water bodies, where it has a negative impact on the environment. Towards that end, laccases are of great interest for bioremediation, since they can degrade aromatic and non-aromatic compounds while reducing O2 to water instead of H2O2. As such, we evaluated Pleurotus ostreatus and Pichia pastoris (which

[Mushroom worker's lung caused by inhalation of spores of the edible fungus pleurotus Florida ("oyster mushroom") (author's transl)].

A new edible mushroom, known as oyster mushroom (Pleutrotus Florida, variety of Pleurotus ostreatus) has recently gained commercial importance in Europe, having been imported from the U.S.A. in 1963 and cultivated in Germany between 1972 and 1973. Several persons concerned with the cultivation and industrial production of this mushroom fell ill, after close contact with it over a period of some months, with exhaustion, headache, chills and fever, and cough. These symptoms, similar to those of "farmer's lung" were proved to be caused by the spores of Pleurotus Florida, inhaled in harvesting roo

Influence of Pleurotus sapidus fruiting bodies on the performance, cecal microbiome, and gene expression in the liver and breast muscle of broilers.

Mushrooms, the fruiting bodies of edible fungi, are widely used as food for humans. However, their potential, as well as that of fungal mycelia, as feed components for poultry is less acknowledged. Recent studies have shown that feeding the vegetative mycelium of Pleurotus sapidus does not affect growth performance or nutrient digestibility and causes only minimal changes in the cecal microbiota structure, liver transcriptome, and plasma metabolome of broilers. The present study aimed to comprehensively investigate the effects of feeding the fruiting bodies of P. sapidus on performance metrics

bZIP Transcription Factor PobZIP8 Positively Mediates Heat Stress Tolerance and Negatively Regulates the Growth and Development of Pleurotus ostreatus.

Pleurotus ostreatus is a globally cultivated edible and medicinal fungus, but its growth and yield are significantly affected by heat stress during cultivation. The basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factors play a critical role in various biological processes, including development, growth, and abiotic stress responses. However, the role of the bZIP transcription factor in regulating the stress tolerance, growth and development of P. ostreatus remains poorly understood. In this study, PobZIP8 was cloned, revealing a 1632 bp open reading frame encoding 525 amino acids with a conserved b
