The present research aims to develop and optimize nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) of Xanthohumol (Xn) for treating lung cancer (LC). Xn packed NLCs were successfully prepared by hot high-pressure homogenization in conjunction with the ultrasonication method and optimized using a pseudo-ternary phase diagram followed by the Box-Behnken design (BBD). Immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) is the most common glomerulonephritis worldwide. Xanthohumol (XN) exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-fibrotic, anti-microbial, anti-proliferative, and immunomodulatory effects that all are associated with the IgAN pathogenesis. Our study aims to evaluate the potential impact of XN on the clinical course of IgAN refractory to conventional treatment. Included were five rigorously selected IgAN patients with poor prognosis assessed on the basis of clinical findings and renal biopsy. Patients received XN orally at a daily dose of 2 mg/kg body weight.

The study of therapeutical agents for "mucolysis" enables a classification of these drugs from their mode of action at the trachea-bronchial level (pharmacodynamic agents, enzymes, reducers, mucoregulation). The affinity of a piperazine derivative, eprazinone, for polyanionic bronchial mucins, was shown in vitro by spectrophotometry. Because of this property, eprazinone (Mucitux) might modify the fibrillar structure of bronchial mucus. This mode of action would differentiate this treatment from the mucolytic agents used today clinically.
