Assessment of Rifampicin Indeterminate Results among Adult Patients attending a Tertiary Tuberculosis Treatment Center in Port Harcourt Rivers State using Shewhart control Charts: Implications for patients and Tuberculosis Control Programs.

BACKGROUND: Antimicrobial resistance is a growing global public health concern, and multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis is responsible for roughly one-quarter of all antimicrobial-resistant infection-related deaths worldwide. GeneXpert is a rapid, automated molecular test that detects multi-drug-resistant Tuberculosis using Rifampicin as a predictor. The World Health Organization (WHO) in 2010 recommended GeneXpert for national tuberculosis programs in developing countries; however, it has limitations. Indeterminate results for Mycobacterium tuberculosis indicate that the test could not determine

Standardization of clinical trials subject ID schematics: A portfolio-wide model to enhance data integrity and regulatory compliance.

BACKGROUND: Subject identification is a cornerstone of data integrity and regulatory compliance in clinical trials. Legacy, study-specific subject ID conventions may cause risk of duplication, hinder traceability of rescreened participants, and complicate regulatory submissions-particularly in large global portfolios where multiple trials for similar disease areas from the same sponsor are handled by the same site and the same PI. Regulatory guidance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA Technical Conformance Guide), the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC SDTM), an

Dietary counselling plus omega-3 supplementation in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder: protocol for a randomized wait-list controlled pilot trial (the "EASe-GAD Trial").

BACKGROUND: Anxiety disorders are prevalent and disabling conditions involving excessive worry and tension. Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), the most common anxiety disorder, affects 5% of individuals from high-income countries and many individuals report that treatment options are not accessible, effective, or tolerable. Clinical evidence suggests that nutrition interventions, based on the Mediterranean diet and supplementation of omega-3 fatty acids, can significantly improve symptoms of depression; however, the effect of nutrition interventions on anxiety symptoms has not been studied in

Preventing congenital toxoplasmosis.

SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM: Toxoplasmosis is caused by infection with the protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii. Acute infections in pregnant women can be transmitted to the fetus and cause severe illness (e.g., mental retardation, blindness, and epilepsy). An estimated 400-4,000 cases of congenital toxoplasmosis occur each year in the United States. Of the 750 deaths attributed to toxoplasmosis each year, 375 (50%) are believed to be caused by eating contaminated meat, making toxoplasmosis the third leading cause of foodborne deaths in this country. ETIOLOGIC FACTORS: Toxoplasma can be transmitted
