Bevacizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that binds to vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and prevents tumor angiogenesis. AIM: The value of serial diagnosis of septic loosening of hip endoprosthesis using laboratory parameters and antigranulocytes scintigraphy was investigated and compared to joint aspiration.
METHOD: In 35 patients with intraoperative verification of infection, we calculated sensitivity, specify and prevalence dependent positive and negative predictive values for antigranulocyte scintigraphy, laboratory tests and the most suitable combination of both. It is important to recognize the normal and abnormal appearances, both early and late, following pelvic surgery. Axillary lymph node dissection is an important part of the surgical treatment of breast cancer as a staging procedure. AIM: The purpose of this prospective study was to evaluate the value of immunoscintigraphy (ISG) with anti-225.28S in clinically suspected ocular melanoma.
METHODS: For this purpose standardized ISG was performed in 36 patients using both planar acquisition and emission computed tomography (ECT). Ocular melanoma was present in 31 patients. Ultrasound investigations of the thyroid gland and determinations of microsomal antibodies have been performed in persons who lived in the town of Korosten (Zhitomir Region) during the Chernobyl accident. A high correlation has been found between ultrasound and immunological results. The immunological screening of the population suffered from the Chernobyl disaster might be successfully used for the autoimmune thyroiditis detection. These data complete those obtained by the ultrasound tests.

The aim of this study was to localize (99m)Tc and (188)Re radionuclides to tumors, using a bispecific antibody (bsMAb) in a two-step approach where the radionuclides are attached to novel peptides incorporating moieties recognized by one arm of the bsMAb. A chemically cross-linked human/murine bsMAb, hMN-14 x 734 (Fab' x Fab'), anti-carcinoembryonic antigen [CEA] x anti-indium-DTPA was prepared as a prelude to constructing a fully humanized bsMAb for future clinical application. N,N'-o-Phenylenedimaleimide was used to cross-link the Fab' fragments of the two antibodies at their hinge regions.

A total of 7 (4 males and 3 females) patients were included in this retrospective study to determine the sensitivity of radioimmunoscintigraphy with I-131 labeled anti CEA/CA 19-9 monoclonal antibodies. Out of 7 patients 2 had ascending colon cancer, one had sigmoid colon cancer, one had rectal cancer and one had adenocarcinoma in the CBD and the remaining two had metastatic tumor (one in the lungs and the other in the liver). Radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies (MoAb) are useful in radionuclide imaging. Human anti-murine antibodies (HAMA), however, could produce immunologic effects or alter the outcome of immunoscintigraphy. Three patients are reported who had been exposed previously to radiolabeled MoAbs and in whom subsequent immunoscintigraphy was performed.
