Cystic dysplasia of the testis is a rare disorder, characterized by irregular cystic spaces within the mediastinum or rete testis. Ipsilateral renal defects are seen in many patients with cystic dysplasia of the testis. Although cystic dysplasia of the testis is considered a benign lesion, it has typically been treated with orchiectomy. We report a child with cystic dysplasia of the testis in whom spontaneous regression of the US findings occurred. This suggests that conservative management, through regular observation with US, may be the more desirable initial course of treatment for patients

The E2F transcription factors are primarily implicated in the regulation of entry and exit from the cell cycle. Cystic dysplasia of the testis is an exceptional benign tumour resulting from a functional abnormality of the connection between the rete testis and the efferent ductules of the epididymis. The authors report a new case observed in a child. The frequent association with a renal abnormality is highly suggestive. Treatment usually consists of orchidectomy, but can be conservative with long-term surveillance. The prognosis is usually excellent.

A 12-year-old boy had an embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in the distal portion of the spermatic cord. The tumor partially surrounded the testis, infiltrated the testicular tunics and formed an intratesticular nodule near the rete testis. The unaffected testicular parenchyma exhibited the characteristic germ cells of carcinoma in situ. We describe an association between these 2 types of tumors.

Male infertility affects 10%-20% of the population in most countries, with approximately half of the cases attributed to male factors. Here, we present a protocol for in vivo transfection of mRNA-encapsulated lipid nanoparticles (mRNA-LNPs) into the mouse testis. We describe steps for mRNA-LNP preparation, rete testis delivery, and assessment of transfection and spermatogenic rescue. This protocol establishes a relatively safe and efficient testis transfection system, offering a potential therapeutic strategy for patients with spermatogenic failure.

We report about a patient with acute scrotal pain. Power Doppler sonography demonstrated arterial testicular perfusion. As no amelioration was achieved by conservative treatment, surgical exploration was done after 7 days. Intraoperatively, we found a partial testicular torsion with a 180 degrees rotation of the testis at the rete testis. This case demonstrates, that the detection of intratesticular arterial blood flow cannot exclude testicular torsion.

Portions of the reproductive tract of the male (Trachemys scripta) turtle were examined by immunocytochemistry for evidence of the capacity to produce and respond to estrogen hormones (via the expression of P450 aromatase and estrogen receptors).
