OBJECTIVES: Podoplanin, a transmembrane sialomucin-like glycoprotein, is known to express at high frequency in oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCC) and possess metastasis-promoting activity such as increased invasion and platelet-aggregating activity. However, the regulatory mechanism of podoplanin expression in OSCC remains unknown.

Several studies suggest that progesterone and estrogens may affect HIV transmission in different, possibly opposing ways. The morphological features of the intestine in monkeys on various diets with and without carcinogen were studied. Seventy adult female vervet monkeys were divided into seven treatment groups. Four groups received a Western high-fat low fibre diet (WD); two a Prudent low-fat higher fibre diet (PD) and one a control low-fat high fibre diet (CD). BACKGROUND: High grade serous carcinoma (HGSC) is the most common and lethal subtype of ovarian cancer, yet its prognosis has remained unchanged in the past 3 decades. HGSC is known to have evolved immune evasion strategies to promote survival, but these mechanisms are not well understood.
