Previous studies have demonstrated differential regulations of sucrose transporters (SUTs) on crop yield among species. This study investigated the early salivary microbiome response to a sucrose challenge in caries-free and caries-active individuals. Freeze-dried storage of decellularized heart valves provides easy storage and transport for clinical use. Freeze-drying without protectants, however, results in a disrupted histoarchitecture after rehydration. Sweetened diets share commonalities with drugs of abuse, but studies comparing behavioral effects of different sweeteners are lacking. Common table sugar produces rewarding and withdrawal effects in planarians.
