Tunable Coupling Architecture for Fixed-Frequency Transmon Superconducting Qubits.

Implementation of high-fidelity 2-qubit operations is a key ingredient for scalable quantum error correction. In superconducting qubit architectures, tunable buses have been explored as a means to higher-fidelity gates. However, these buses introduce new pathways for leakage. Here we present a modified tunable bus architecture appropriate for fixed-frequency qubits in which the adiabaticity restrictions on gate speed are reduced. We characterize this coupler on a range of 2-qubit devices, achieving a maximum gate fidelity of 99.85%. We further show the calibration is stable over one day.

Quantum crystal structure in the 250-kelvin superconducting lanthanum hydride.

The discovery of superconductivity at 200 kelvin in the hydrogen sulfide system at high pressures1 demonstrated the potential of hydrogen-rich materials as high-temperature superconductors. Recent theoretical predictions of rare-earth hydrides with hydrogen cages2,3 and the subsequent synthesis of LaH10 with a superconducting critical temperature (Tc) of 250 kelvin4,5 have placed these materials on the verge of achieving the long-standing goal of room-temperature superconductivity. Electrical and X-ray diffraction measurements have revealed a weakly pressure-dependent Tc for LaH10 between 137

From band reconstruction to Bogoliubov dispersion: How dz2-band enhances iron-based superconductivity.

Conventional understanding of iron-based superconductivity is usually established based on electronic bands at the Fermi level, leaving deeper bands overlooked as potential factor. Here, we expand this view by demonstrating that a deep-lying dz2 band below the Fermi level can be employed to enhance the superconducting paring strength. By using scanning tunneling microscope to mechanically change the crystal lattice of an iron-based superconductor, we observe an upward shift of the deep-lying dz2 band related feature, leading to hybridization with the primary superconducting bands at the Fermi

Rare-Earth Atoms on Nb(110) as a Platform to Engineer Topological Superconductivity.

Helical spin textures in one-dimensional magnetic chains on superconductors can enable topological superconductivity and host Majorana zero modes, independent of the presence of intrinsic spin-orbit coupling. Here, we show that gadolinium (Gd) adatoms, possessing large 4f magnetic moments when placed on a Nb(110) surface, establish indirect exchange interactions mediated by valence electrons, manifesting as Yu-Shiba-Rusinov states. By combining scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy with density functional theory, we analyze the emergence of the Yu-Shiba-Rusinov states in single Gd ato

First-Principles Study of the Superconductivity of Ti3VH12 and TiV3H12 Under 200 GPa.

Hydrogen-rich compounds under high pressure are promising for high-temperature superconductivity, but many high-Tc hydrides rely on rare-earth or alkaline-earth elements and remain difficult to tune chemically. Transition-metal hydrides offer an alternative platform because partially filled d states can modify the electronic density of states, metal-hydrogen hybridization, and electron-phonon coupling. Here, VH3 is used as a parent high-pressure transition-metal hydride framework, and Ti substitution is introduced as a chemically compatible way to tune the d-derived states near the Fermi level

Confinement of superconductivity into quasi-one-dimensional channels by a super-Moiré crystal.

The precise spatial engineering of quantum phases stands as a major challenge in condensed matter physics, with profound implications for fundamental science and quantum technologies. While moiré heterostructures have enabled remarkable tunability on the correlated states, the deterministic spatial manipulation of emergent quantum phases like superconductivity and magnetism remains an open challenge. Here, we investigate hexagonal boron nitride (hBN)-aligned twisted bilayer graphene (TBG), in which fabrication-induced uniaxial heterostrain gives rise to a periodic quasi-one-dimensional (1D) su

Nematic and chiral superconductivity emerging within the loop-current phase in kagome metals.

The kagome metals AV3Sb5 (A = Cs, Rb, K) host multiple symmetry-breaking phases, including charge-density-wave and loop-current orders, and exhibit highly exotic superconductivity with pronounced nematicity and chirality. Remarkably, even dilute impurities transform this exotic superconducting state into an isotropic s-wave state. These observations pose a challenge to existing theoretical scenarios. We show that loop-current order induces nematic chiral d-wave superconductivity in kagome metals. The loop-current-induced orbital magnetization (OM) stabilizes one chiral superconducting channels

Topological Chiral Superconductivity Mediated by Intervalley Antiferromagnetic Fluctuations in Twisted Bilayer WSe_{2}.

Motivated by the recent observations of superconductivity in twisted bilayer WSe_{2} (tWSe_{2}), we theoretically investigate the superconductivity driven by an electronic mechanism. We first demonstrate that the multiband screened Coulomb interaction within the random phase approximation is insufficient to induce observable pairing instability. Nevertheless, by further including the intervalley antiferromagnetic fluctuations, the pairing interaction is substantially enhanced, yielding superconductivity with critical temperature T_{c} of hundreds of millikelvin at Van Hove singularities. Fermi Surface Spin Texture and Topological Superconductivity in Spin-Orbit Free Noncollinear Antiferromagnets.

We explore the relationship among the magnetic ordering in real space, the resulting spin texture on the Fermi surface, and the related superconducting gap structure in noncollinear antiferromagnetic metals without spin-orbit coupling. Via a perturbative approach, we show that noncollinear magnetic ordering in a metal can generate momentum-dependent spin texture on its Fermi surface, even in the absence of spin-orbit coupling, if the metal has more than three sublattices in its magnetic unit cell. Thus, our theory naturally extends the idea of altermagnetism to noncollinear spin structures. Wh

Ising superconductivity induced from spin-selective valley symmetry breaking in twisted trilayer graphene.

We show that the e-e interaction induces a strong breakdown of valley symmetry for each spin channel in twisted trilayer graphene, leading to a ground state where the two spin projections have opposite sign of the valley symmetry breaking order parameter. This leads to a spin-valley locking in which the electrons of a Cooper pair are forced to live on different Fermi lines attached to opposite valleys. Furthermore, we find an effective intrinsic spin-orbit coupling explaining the protection of the superconductivity against in-plane magnetic fields. The effect of spin-selective valley symmetry

Chiral Majorana fermions in two-dimensional square lattice antiferromagnet with proximity-induced superconductivity.

Combination of proximity-induced superconductivity and ferromagnetic exchange field in a two-dimensional square-lattice antiferromagnet with spin-orbit coupling and nonsymmorphic symmetry can induce a topological superconductor phase with chiral Majorana edge states. The lattice model of the Bogoliubov-de Gennes (BdG) Hamiltonian was applied to study the phase diagram of bulks and chiral Majorana edge states in nanoribbons. By numerically studying the phase diagram, we found that the non-uniformity of either the superconducting pairing parameters or the exchange field at the two sublattices is

The Exotically Stoichiometric Compounds and Superconductivity of Lithium-Copper Systems under High Pressure.

Pressure, as a useful tool, can push elements to new oxidation states by altering the stoichiometry of compounds, leading to materials with exotic physical and chemical properties. Herein, structure searches for Li-Cu systems were carried out under pressure. Three Li-rich Li-Cu compounds with exotic stoichiometries (i.e., Li4Cu, Li5Cu, and Li6Cu) are predicted at high pressure. Remarkably, the Li6Cu consists of a Cu-centered face-sharing icosahedron. Further simulations reveal that the captured electrons from Li atoms prompt Cu atoms to achieve high negative oxidation states beyond -1 and to a

Hidden Zeeman Field in Odd-Parity Magnets: An Ideal Platform for Topological Superconductivity.

Odd-parity magnets (OPMs) have emerged as a fundamental class of unconventional magnetism, characterized by time-reversal-preserving nonrelativistic spin splitting (NSS). Despite growing interest, the fundamental understanding of OPMs remains critically incomplete, as previous studies have focused exclusively on NSS while overlooking the intrinsically broken time-reversal symmetry (T) inherent to magnetic order. In this Letter, we demonstrate that OPMs universally host a hidden Zeeman field rooted in this T breaking, which profoundly reshapes their band structure. Through an analytical study o

Lithographically Controlled Liquid Metal Diffusion in Graphene: Fabrication and Magnetotransport Signatures of Superconductivity.

Metal intercalation in epitaxial graphene enables the emergence of proximity-induced superconductivity and modified quantum transport properties. However, systematic transport studies of intercalated graphene have been hindered by challenges in device fabrication, including processing-induced deintercalation and instability under standard lithographic techniques. Here, a lithographically controlled intercalation approach is introduced that enables the scalable fabrication of gallium-intercalated quasi-freestanding bilayer graphene (QFBLG) Hall bar devices. Conventional High-Temperature Superconductivity at Ambient Pressure in Zincblende-Like Light-Element Compounds.

To validate the feasibility of high-temperature superconductivity in light-element compounds at ambient pressure, we designed a class of XY4Z4 (Y4Z4 = B4N4, Si4C4, B4P4) structures based on the zincblende configuration. Using high-throughput calculations based on density functional theory, we evaluate 201 compounds and identify 17 materials that are both dynamically and mechanically stable at ambient pressure. These materials demonstrate an insulator-to-metal transition achieved through carrier doping, including 12 superconductors, with 4 of them showing a Tc above 20 K. Notably, LiB4N4 and Mg

A DFT-chemical pressure analysis on systems with X = Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba reveals that the size of the metal cation, which can be tuned to stabilize the B-C framework, is key for their ambient-pressure dynamic stability. Proposal of a vertically polarized superconducting multipole wiggler using Nb3Sn coils.

We propose a vertically polarized superconducting multipole wiggler (V-SC-MPW) that enables the use of vertically polarized hard X-rays with minimal impact on beam quality. Vertical polarization facilitates unique experimental setups by allowing horizontal arrangement of optical equipment, which is difficult to realize with horizontally polarized X-rays. However, significant emittance growth has prevented the adoption of such vertically polarized, high-field devices in third-generation light sources. To address this challenge, the V-SC-MPW employs a short-period design. By utilizing Nb3Sn supe

Two-Dimensional Superconducting Diode Effect in Topological Insulator/Superconductor Heterostructure.

The superconducting diode effect (SDE) is characterized by the nonreciprocity of Cooper-pair motion with respect to current direction. In three-dimensional (3D) materials, SDE results in a critical current that varies with direction, making the effect distinctly observable: the material exhibits superconductivity in one direction while behaving as a resistive metal in the opposite direction. However, in genuinely two-dimensional (2D) materials, the critical current density is theoretically zero, leaving the manifestation of SDE in the 2D limit an intriguing challenge. Here, we present the obse

Noise Variation Characteristics of the Superconducting Gravimeter at Jiufeng Station in Wuhan (China).

The noise level of gravity stations is an important indicator for measuring the operating status of a station and is a prerequisite for evaluating whether the station's observations can be used to extract weak geodynamic signals. With the continuous expansion of areas of human activity, gravity stations originally located in the wild may become increasingly closer to cities. Whether their noise levels change is an important issue that is worthy of attention. Based on power spectrum analyses and probability density function methods, the noise level of the superconducting gravimeter (SG) at Jiuf
