Experimental vesico-vaginal fistulas were successfully treated using the transvaginal approach and strengthening the bladder sutures with adhesive tissue. Despite inflammation of the surrounding tissues good results were obtained, without cystotomy, permanent catheterization and antibiotics.

BACKGROUND: While tissue adhesives are widely used in the closure of surgical incisions, contact dermatitis remains a poorly characterized complication. Dermabond™ (Ethicon; DB) and LiquiBand® (Advanced Medical Solutions; LB) are two commonly used tissue adhesives; however, there are no direct data comparing their risk of contact dermatitis. PURPOSE: To examine a novel technique for simplified placement and removal of plaque brachytherapy by fibrin glue and urokinase (medac Gmbh, Hamburg, Germany).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: In six enucleated porcine eyes, plaques were placed on the episclera and fibrin glue was applied to cover it. Urokinase was used to dissolve the glue in three eyes and saline was used in three eyes. Adhesion strength was measured further on 15 plaques affixed to porcine eyes (glued in five with intact conjunctiva, glued in five with removed conjunctiva, and sutured in five).

PURPOSE: To find the proper way to use the cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive (CTA) in the pterygium excisions with amniotic membrane transplantation and To evaluate the therapeutic effects of it.
METHOD: A prospective randomized clinical trial was carried out in 27 patients (32 eyes) who would have pterygium excision. The Paragalalith method, to dry off a fistula proved to be a complete success, when a complex vagina/small intestine fistula was removed from a 75 year old patient (woman). We had developed the method previously in our clinic and used it sucessfully to close 30 fistulas in the abdominal region.
