UNLABELLED: Radical trachelectomy (RT) has been reported for almost 20 years. This case report describes and addresses the issue of the clinical management of early-missed abortion in a patient after RT with a cerclage.
CASE: A 35-year-old woman who had a RT 2 years ago due to cervical carcinoma stage IB1 presented with a missed abortion of an 8-week gestational age. At the end of the RT, a cerclage suture was inserted in the remaining internal oss of the cervix. The patient went through a cervical dilatation followed by suction curettage guided by ultrasonography without compromising the cer

OBJECTIVE: Radical vaginal trachelectomy is a fertility-preserving treatment for patients with early cervical cancer. Despite encouraging oncologic and fertility outcomes, large studies on radical vaginal trachelectomy are lacking.
METHOD: Demographic, histological, fertility, and follow-up data of consecutive patients who underwent radical vaginal trachelectomy between March 1995 and August 2021 were prospectively recorded and retrospectively analyzed.
RESULTS: A total of 471 patients of median age 33 years (range 21-44) were included. 83% (n=390) were nulliparous women. Indications were In

BACKGROUND: Yolk sac tumor (YST) is a malignant entity that often occurs in girls less than 3 years of age and is the most frequent type of primary extragonadal germ cell tumor.
CASE: We describe the case of an 11-month-old girl who was referred to our center for vaginal bleeding with evidence of a uterine mass on ultrasonography. Preoperative investigations confirmed YST of the uterine cervix without metastasis. After 4 cycles of systemic chemotherapy, the patient was treated with laparoscopic trachelectomy (fertility-sparing surgery) without perioperative complications.

Heterotopic pregnancy with cervical incompetence is very uncommon. And yet there is no definite treatment for cervical incompetence occurring after radical trachelectomy. We are reporting a rare and novel case of a following in vitro fertilization combined intrauterine pregnancy and interstitial pregnancy which was successfully treated with maintenance of the pregnancy to term.

BACKGROUND: Our previous study demonstrated the safety and effectiveness of abdominal radical trachelectomy during pregnancy but did not focus on the fetus. This study aimed to clarify the influence of abdominal radical trachelectomy performed during pregnancy on the fetus.
METHODS: Eight cervical cancer patients who underwent abdominal radical trachelectomy at our hospital between February 2013 and August 2020 were enrolled in this study. To assess the peri- and postoperative influence on the fetus, we performed fetal heart monitoring at 30-min intervals during abdominal radical trachelectom

OBJECTIVES: Radical trachelectomy is considered standard of care in patients with early-stage cervical cancer interested in future fertility. The goal of this study was to compare operative, oncologic, and fertility outcomes in patients with early-stage cervical cancer undergoing open vs. minimally invasive radical trachelectomy.
METHODS: A retrospective review was performed of patients from four institutions who underwent radical trachelectomy for early-stage cervical cancer from June 2002 to July 2013. Perioperative, oncologic, and fertility outcomes were compared between patients undergoin

OBJECTIVE: To explore the feasibility and safety of transvaginal external fascia trachelectomy to conservatively treat patients with stage Ia1 squamous carcinoma of the uterine cervix (SCC) and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) III, who are not suitable to take cold knife conization (CKC).
METHODS: From July 2002 to September 2010, those patients who had a strong desire to preserve the uterus or fertility but also are confronted with following situations received transvaginal external fascia trachelectomy: CIN III with large area lesion (colposcopically observed lesion area was larger

Radical trachelectomy is conducted in women with early stage cervical cancer who strongly desire fertility preservation. To improve fertility outcomes, the preservation of the uterine artery has been suggested, which can be feasible by minimally invasive surgery using laparoscopy or robots. Although cesarean delivery is required for maternal and fetal health, vaginal delivery is a concern due to the fast delivery process of risk of preterm labor. We report a case of a 32-year-old nulliparous woman with stage IB1 cervical cancer who underwent robot-assisted uterine artery-preserving radical tra

OBJECTIVES: Nerve-sparing techniques to avoid bladder dysfunction in abdominal radical hysterectomy have been established during the past two decades, and they have been applied to radical trachelectomy. Although trachelectomy retains the uterine corpus, no report mentions the preservation of uterine branches of pelvic nerves. The aim of the present study was to introduce and discuss our unique concept for preserving them.
STUDY DESIGN AND RESULTS: Four cases with FIGO stage Ia2-Ib1 cervical cancer, in which preservation of uterine branches of the pelvic nerves was attempted, are presented. O

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to compare the surgical and pathological outcomes for patients with early-stage cervical cancer after abdominal radical trachelectomy (ART) and abdominal radical hysterectomy (ARH).
METHODS: A prospective database of ART and ARH procedures performed in a standardized manner by the same surgical group was analyzed. The 3-segment technique was used for the accurate analysis of parametrial lymph nodes (PMLNs), and parametrial measurements were recorded by the same pathologist. Standard statistical tests were used.
RESULT: Between August 2012 and August 2013

OBJECTIVES: To identify whether recurrences were picked up by cytology alone after radical vaginal trachelectomy and to determine the false-positive rate of abnormal cytology.
METHODS: Retrospective collection of patients from the cancer registry since radical vaginal trachelectomy was first performed in Bristol in 1999. All cytology results were collated and re-reviewed by a senior consultant cellular pathologist at the cytopathology centre in Southmead Hospital, Bristol. Cytology results and pathology and survival data are discussed, and any downgrading or upgrading of reports is reviewed.

OBJECTIVE: Invasive cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers, with 500,000 new cases diagnosed annually. Fertility preservation has become an important component of the overall quality of life of many cancer survivors. Expert opinion has suggested that fertility-sparing surgery should be limited to those patients diagnosed with cervical cancer less than 2 cm in diameter. Our objective was to report our abdominal radical trachelectomy (ART) experience in the opposite group of patients-those with a cervical cancer more than 2 cm in diameter.
METHODS: Between 1999 and 2006, a total of 4

BACKGROUND: We report an isolated recurrence at the residual cervix shortly after abdominal radical trachelectomy for cervical cancer.
CASE: A 34-year-old woman underwent radical abdominal trachelectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy for FIGO stage IB1 squamous cell cervical cancer. The tumor measured 10 mm in maximum diameter with 4 mm of invasion. Histology showed lymph vascular space involvement with no infiltration of adjacent structures and no pelvic lymph node metastases. Tumor-free resection margins exceeded 15 mm. At the 6-month follow-up examination, cervical cytology showed cells suspic

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Some women with persistent or recurrent disease after repeated conization for high grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) may desire to preserve uterus if not fertility. In such case, a partial trachelectomy may become treatment of choice for them. We undertook this prospective study to determine the feasibility of partial trachelectomy as a treatment choice for persistent or recurrent high grade CIN.
METHOD: Twenty premenopausal women with persistent or recurrent high grade CIN after initial LEEP and repeated conization refused hysterectomy thus elected to u

INTRODUCTION: In the mid-80's and 90's of the last century uterine-sparing surgical treatment methods were proposed to women wishing to preserve their fertility.
OBJECTIVES: The aim of the study was to assess practical application of conization or radical vaginal trachelectomy with laparoscopic lymphadenectomy in women with squamous cell cervical cancer (FIGO stages IA and IB1) who want to retain their ability to procreate. Material and methods: A total of 119 women (aged 25-43 years) were included in the study Ninety-six women (60 - IA1 and 36 - IA2) were deemed eligible for conization and 2
