Rational Design and Evaluation of Two Novel Copper-Based Coordination Polymers as High-Performance Dual-Functional Inhibitors for Enhanced Nitrogen Use Efficiency in Agriculture.

The low utilization efficiency of nitrogen fertilizers poses significant economic and environmental challenges. To address this issue, the development of dual-functional inhibitors capable of simultaneously delaying urea hydrolysis and nitrification is highly desirable. In this study, two new copper-based coordination polymers, [Cu2(3-padpe)2(5-MIP)2(H2O)2]n (Cu-CP-1) and {[Cu(3-padpe)(2,5-tdca)(H2O)]·H2O}n (Cu-CP-2), were rationally designed and synthesized via hydrothermal methods. Both compounds exhibited potent urease inhibitory activity with IC50 values of 3.40 ± 0.01 µM and 9.15 ± 0.04 µ

Porcelain gallbladder revisited.

Porcelain gallbladder (PG), characterized radiographically by gallbladder wall calcification, is a rare condition with significant clinical importance due to its association with gallbladder cancer (5-22%). This review explores the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and molecular mechanisms of PG development. Strong correlation with gallstones (> 60%) establishes cholelithiasis as the primary risk factor, with female sex, advanced age, and metabolic disorders also contributing significantly. The pathogenesis involves sustained inflammation, leading to fibrosis, scarring, and ultimately calcium dep

NH3, N2O, NO and NO2 losses, emission factors and reduction mechanisms under different N managements from greenhouse vegetable soils.

Excessive nitrogen (N) application in greenhouse cultivation has led to substantial reactive N (Nr) emissions from soils, necessitating effective mitigation strategies. This study presents simultaneous high-frequency monitoring of ammonia (NH3) volatilization, nitrous oxide (N2O), nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) emissions across three greenhouse vegetable seasons (tomato, cabbage and lettuce) under different N management regimes. Key findings reveal that emission factors of NH3, N2O, NO, and NO2 were 0.6 %, 1.6 %, 0.8 % and 0.2 % in greenhouse vegetable systems, respectively. Amon

The effects of amendments on cd and pb under different fertilizer application conditions.

Fertilizer application is a common agricultural practice that enhances soil fertility but can also increase heavy metal mobility in contaminated soils. This study used a pot experiment with four vegetables (water spinach, Chinese cabbage, lettuce, and garland chrysanthemum) to evaluate the impact of BC, ZE, and their combination (CO) on Cd and Pb levels under different fertilization schemes. Results showed that CO treatment significantly enhanced enzyme activities, increasing urease by 2.6-31.6% and catalase by 1.37-14.24% under varying fertilizer conditions. However, sucrase activity increase

Concordance of Helicobacter pylori Detection Methods in Symptomatic Children and Adolescents.

BACKGROUND: Helicobacter pylori is the most prevalent chronic bacterial infection globally, acquired mostly during childhood. It is associated with chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastric cancer. Due to challenges in culturing H. pylori, diagnostic reference standards often rely on combining ≥2 non-culture, biopsy-based methods. Histology with Giemsa staining is widely used in clinical settings due to its low cost and reliable performance. METHODS: This study evaluated the concordance between histology with Giemsa staining as the reference standard and other diagnostic methods, i

The Role of Non-Helicobacter Pylori Bacteria in the Pathogenesis of Gastric Diseases.

In the context of dysbiosis, chronic inflammation, and carcinogenesis, non-Helicobacter pylori bacteria are becoming more widely acknowledged as significant contributors to stomach diseases. The stomach contains a variety of bacterial communities, including Fusobacterium nucleatum, Streptococcus species, Lactobacillus species, Prevotella species, Veillonella species, and Propionibacterium acnes, according to studies employing next-generation sequencing. Because of adaptation processes like urease activity, acid-tolerant metabolism, and biofilm development, these organisms can survive in acidic

Update on the pathogenesis and clinical management of Helicobacter pylori gastric infection and associated diseases.

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a gram-negative, spiral-shaped, microaerophilic bacterium that infects over 43% of the global population, with higher prevalence in regions of low socioeconomic status and poor sanitation. It is transmitted mainly through oral-oral and fecal-oral routes and has evolved multiple mechanisms that allow colonization of the acidic gastric environment, including urease production, chemotaxis, and a variety of adhesins. The bacterium expresses several virulence factors that enhance its pathogenicity, such as cytotoxin-associated antigen A, vacuolating cytotoxin A, a

Immune Cell Signaling by Helicobacter pylori: Impact on Gastric Pathology.

Helicobacter pylori represents a highly successful colonizer of the human stomach. Infections with this Gram-negative bacterium can persist lifelong, and although in the majority of cases colonization is asymptomatic, it can trigger pathologies ranging from chronic gastritis and peptic ulceration to gastric cancer. The interaction of the bacteria with the human host modulates immune responses in different ways to enable bacterial survival and persistence. H. pylori uses various pathogenicity-associated factors such as VacA, NapA, CGT, GGT, lipopolysaccharide, peptidoglycan, heptose 1,7-bisphos

Abnormal metabolism of gut microbiota reveals the possible molecular mechanism of nephropathy induced by hyperuricemia.

The progression of hyperuricemia disease is often accompanied by damage to renal function. However, there are few studies on hyperuricemia nephropathy, especially its association with intestinal flora. This study combines metabolomics and gut microbiota diversity analysis to explore metabolic changes using a rat model as well as the changes in intestinal flora composition. The results showed that amino acid metabolism was disturbed with serine, glutamate and glutamine being downregulated whilst glycine, hydroxyproline and alanine being upregulated. The combined glycine, serine and glutamate co
