PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the visual outcomes and complications of unilateral scleral fixation of posterior chamber intraocular lenses (SF-PCIOLs) in pediatric complicated traumatic cataracts without capsular support.

PURPOSE: To investigate the causes of glaucoma in children following removal of cataracts.
METHODS: In total, 24 patients (37 eyes) with uncomplicated congenital cataracts who developed glaucoma following cataract removal were studied retrospectively. Cataract morphology, surgical technique, postoperative complications, time to glaucoma onset, gonioscopic findings, the presence of microcornea, and the histopathologic characteristics of the filtration angle in one case were the studied parameters.

PURPOSE: The optimal role of intraocular lenses (IOLs) in infants remains a controversial topic. Some ophthalmologists advocate correction with a contact lens (CL), whereas others recommend an IOL correction. PURPOSE: To analyse results of secondary intraocular lens implantation in aphakic eyes.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Sixty five eyes of 63 patients (23 females and 40 males) had secondary intraocular lens (IOL) implantation, from December 1996 to April 1997. Follow-up was from 1 to 21 months. An anterior chamber lens was used in 51 eyes (78.5%) and a posterior chamber lens in 14 eyes (21.5%); these included 6 cases of trans-scleral fixated lenses. The most common reason for secondary implantation was to relieve the discomfort caused by spectacles or contact lenses.

A series of 67 cases of epikeratophakia is presented with an average time from surgery of 12.2 months. The Lincoff temporary balloon buckle is an equally effective alternative to more conventional techniques in the management of selected retinal detachments. We used this technique in the management of 45 selected primary retinal detachments operated on since Nov. 22, 1980. Initial complete retinal flattening was achieved in 42 eyes (93%). The results and complications of implantation of 100 iridocapsular and 100 iris-clip lenses are evaluated.
