Acute type I aortic dissection (AD) complicated by true lumen (TL) collapse and malperfusion downstream is associated with devastating prognosis. OBJECTIVE: Aortic aneurysm formation leading eventually to aortic rupture or dissection in early adult life is a fatal outcome of Marfan syndrome (MFS). Advances in the treatment of the syndrome have improved prognosis, but the long-term reoperation rate is still high. AIM: We have retrospectively analysed acute aortic dissections occurring intraoperatively (IAAD).
METHODS: Patients' preoperative risk factors, and operative and postoperative courses were analysed from the hospital records retrospectively.
