Salvianolic Acid A Induces Ferroptosis in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer via the SRC/YAP/GPX4 Axis.

Lung cancer is the most common malignant tumor worldwide in terms of both incidence and mortality, and the development of highly effective, low-toxicity therapeutic strategies remains an urgent clinical challenge. Here, we report that Salvianolic acid A (SAA), a natural compound extracted from Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, inhibits the proliferation of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells and induces ferroptosis. Mechanistically, SAA acts as an SRC kinase inhibitor, blocking SRC autophosphorylation at Tyr416, thereby disrupting the SRC-YAP interaction and preventing YAP nuclear translocation.

Calcineurin A-α suppression drives nuclear factor-κB-mediated NADPH oxidase-2 upregulation.

Calcineurin inhibitors (CNIs) are vital immunosuppressive therapies in the management of inflammatory conditions. A long-term consequence is nephrotoxicity. In the kidneys, the primary, catalytic calcineurin (CnA) isoforms are CnAα and CnAβ. Although the renal phenotype of CnAα-/- mice substantially mirrors CNI-induced nephrotoxicity, the mechanisms downstream of CnAα are poorly understood. Since NADPH oxidase-2 (Nox2)-derived oxidative damage has been implicated in CNI-induced nephrotoxicity, we hypothesized that CnAα inhibition drives Nox2 upregulation and promotes oxidative stress. To test

In Silico Screening of Bioactive Compounds of Representative Seaweeds to Inhibit SARS-CoV-2 ACE2-Bound Omicron B.1.1.529 Spike Protein Trimer.

Omicron is an emerging SARS-CoV-2 variant, evolved from the Indian delta variant B.1.617.2, which is currently infecting worldwide. The spike glycoprotein, an important molecule in the pathogenesis and transmissions of SARS-CoV-2 variants, especially omicron B.1.1.529, shows 37 mutations distributed over the trimeric protein domains. Notably, fifteen of these mutations reside in the receptor-binding domain of the spike glycoprotein, which may alter transmissibility and infectivity. Additionally, the omicron spike evades neutralization more efficiently than the delta spike. Most of the therapeu

Salvianolic acid A suppresses CCl4-induced liver fibrosis through regulating the Nrf2/HO-1, NF-κB/IκBα, p38 MAPK, and JAK1/STAT3 signaling pathways.

Salvianolic acid A (SA-A), a water-soluble compound extracted from traditional Chinese herb Radix Salvia miltiorrhiza, has anti-fibrotic effects on carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced liver fibrosis. However, the underlying molecular mechanism remains unclear. Thus, this study aimed to elucidate the molecular mechanism underlying the anti-fibrotic effects of SA-A on CCl4-induced liver fibrosis in mice. All mice (except control group) were intraperitoneally administered CCl4 dissolved in peanut oil to induce liver fibrosis. Treatment groups were then gavaged with SA-A (20 or 40 mg/kg). The live
