The underlying pathophysiology includes contraction of the posterior lamellae of the eyelid, shortening of the inferior fornix, and lateral canthal tendon laxity. This study describes a modified technique for levator resection in congenital ptosis and presents the results from a consecutive series of patients operated on with this method. BACKGROUND: The classical levator resection (LR) technique for correcting ptosis involves separating the levator palpebrae superioris muscle (LPS) completely, which will inevitably collapse the muscle.
