[Leg lengthening and correction of deformity using the femoral Albizzia nail].

The albizzia femoral nail allows for lengthenings up to 10 cm. It can be used in achondroplastic patients. Multiplane corrections can be addressed with a special nail (3D-Albizzia) if multiple osteotomies are performed (e.g. for proximal and distal femoral varus). A derotation and a flexion/extension osteotomy can also be associated. IM nailing is suitable for patient with previous external fixators. Surgical planning should be careful. The operation is currently performed percutaneously, with a 1 to 2 cm skin incision for nail insertion, and a 6 mm incision for distal femoral dome osteotomies

Sedative activity of two flavonol glycosides isolated from the flowers of Albizzia julibrissin Durazz.

The flowers of Albizzia julibrissin are used as a sedative in oriental traditional medicine. The phytochemical study of this plant allowed the isolation of two flavonol glycosides, quercitrin (1) and isoquercitrin (2). The sedative activity of these compounds was evaluated, and both compounds 1 and 2 increased pentobarbital-induced sleeping time in dose-dependent manner in mice. These results support the use of the flowers of this plant as a sedative agent.

Effect on knee motion of gradual intramedullary femoral lengthening.

Gradual femoral lengthening causes loss of knee motion due to soft tissue tightness. Lengthening with an intramedullary device would be expected to retain good knee movements since it avoids soft tissue transfixation. To ascertain this we looked at the knee movements recorded in 27 patients before, during and after bilateral simultaneous femoral lengthening using Albizzia nails. The mean gain was 6.2 cm and the mean follow-up 28.6 months. No significant difference was noted between the mean preoperative and final knee flexions (148.3 degrees vs. 148.4 degrees) and the mean preoperative and fin

Albizia amara leaf powder as a next-generation biodegradable additive for advanced drilling fluid applications.

The environmental and health risks associated with traditional nanoparticle-based drilling fluids have made the development of ecologically sustainable drilling-fluid additives crucial. This study examined a novel biodegradable additive made from Albizia amara leaves as a way to improve the rheology and filtration of water-based drilling fluid (WDF). XRD, SEM, FTIR, and TGA tests were used to characterize the obtained Albizia amara powder. While TGA showed outstanding thermal stability with 92% mass retention up to 225 °C, XRD verified the powder's crystalline composition. Rotational, oscillat
