Assessment of Anti-Mullerian Hormone and Anti-Mullerian Hormone Type II Receptor Variants in Women with Repeated Implantation Failures.

Repeated implantation failure (RIF) is a common endocrine disease that causes female infertility and the etiology is unknown. The abnormal expression of key proteins and hormones at the maternal-fetal interface affected the maternal-fetal communication and leads to adverse pregnancy outcomes. The expression of anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and AMH receptor II (AMHRII) was observed in the endometrium. This study aimed to investigate the expression of AMH and AMHRII at the human endometrium, decidual tissue, and blastocyst. Furthermore, the expression of AMH and AMHRII were examined in the RIF pa

Anti-mullerian hormone in felids: A systematic review.

Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is a dimeric glycoprotein that belongs to the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily. This hormone that is produced by gonadal Sertoli cells in males and granulosa cells in females has been extensively studied in humans, rodents, and livestock species. Research on AMH in felids began in 2011 and given the increasing number of studies over recent years, an updated literature review is necessary to clarify and organize future research directions. The objective of this article was to conduct a systematic review of AMH in domestic and wild felids. From a lite

Clinical Utility of Anti-Mullerian Hormone in Pediatrics.

CONTEXT: Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) was originally described in the context of sexual differentiation in the male fetus but has gained prominence now as a marker of ovarian reserve and fertility in females. In this mini-review, we offer an updated synopsis on AMH and its clinical utility in pediatric patients. DESIGN AND RESULTS: A systematic search was undertaken for studies related to the physiology of AMH, normative data, and clinical role in pediatrics. In males, AMH, secreted by Sertoli cells, is found at high levels prenatally and throughout childhood and declines with progression thr

[Clinical use for anti-mullerian hormone in gynecology].

Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) is a glycoprotein produced by granulosa cells of primary, pre-antral and small antral ovarian follicles and its clinical applicability has been recently demonstrated by several studies. Prediction of the response to ovarian stimulation for in vitro fertilization corresponds to the most frequent utilization of AMH in clinical practice, being routinely assessed in many services to identify subgroups of women susceptible to a poor response or to Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome. There are great perspectives that AMH may be applicable to the individual determination o

Decrease of anti-Mullerian hormone in genetic spermatogenic failure.

The aim of this study was to compare anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) plasma levels in patients with azoospermia according to the physiopathology. In a prospective clinical study from April 2008 to March 2009 in University Hospital, we measured AMH levels in 49 consecutive patients with azoospermia. AMH plasma levels were correlated with FSH, inhibin B, bioavailable testosterone plasma levels and testicular volume and compared between nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA) and obstructive azoospermia (OA) and within four physiopathological subgroups of NOA: genetic, cryptorchidism, cytotoxic and unexpla

[Anti-Mullerian hormone. Structure and role in sexual differentiation].

Anti-müllerian hormone (AMH) which plays a key role in male sexual differentiation is a glycoprotein, produced by Sertoli cells. In male fetuses AMH is responsible for regression of Müllerian duct, the analgen of uterus, the Fallopian tubes, and 2/3 upper of the vagina, while in female fetuses for a decrease in aromatase activity in granulosa cells of the ovary. Human AMH gene consists of 5 exons: 412, 124, 108, 160 and 856 bp in length, and is localized near the tip of chromosome 19, in subbands 13.2 to 13.3. Mutations of the gene or the receptor of AMH are responsible for clinical symptoms o

Anti-mullerian hormone deficiency in girls with congenital multiple pituitary hormone deficiency.

CONTEXT: Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) is believed to validly reflect the ovarian reserve. We wanted to test whether congenital absence of gonadotropin stimulation of the ovaries affects AMH production. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the study was to test the validity of AMH as a marker for the ovarian reserve in females with congenital multiple pituitary hormone deficiency (MPHD; deficiency of three or more axes). DESIGN: This was a retrospective laboratory study. SETTING: The study was conducted in the Department of Pediatric Endocrinology in a tertiary center. PATIENTS: The AMH serum levels

The physiology and clinical utility of anti-Mullerian hormone in women.

BACKGROUND The measurement of circulating anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) has been applied to a wide array of clinical applications, mainly based on its ability to reflect the number of antral and pre-antral follicles present in the ovaries. AMH has been suggested to predict the ovarian response to hyperstimulation of the ovaries for IVF and the timing of menopause, and to indicate iatrogenic damage to the ovarian follicle reserve. It has also been proposed as a surrogate for antral follicle count (AFC) in the diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). METHODS This paper is a summary of prese

Recent Advances in Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH)-Related Osteoporosis Research.

Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), a member of the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily, has been widely recognized for its role in reproductive endocrinology and is regarded as one of the "gold standards" for evaluating ovarian age and fertility potential. In recent years, the focus of research on AMH has gradually expanded from the reproductive system to the skeletal system. Although the specific mechanism of its action in bone-metabolism-related diseases and associated signaling pathways still requires in-depth exploration, existing studies have confirmed-through cell experiments, an

Serum anti-mullerian hormone levels and age among Samoan women.

BACKGROUND: Serum AMH levels in adult women are part of the diagnostic criteria for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition with marked infertility and metabolic risks. Yet, little is known about AMH levels among women from ethnic minority populations, especially its associations with age and obesity. The objective is to describe the association of age and serum anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) among Samoan women, provide age specific AMH reference levels, and examine the associations of AMH with adiposity and reproductive factors. METHODS: A cross-sectional, retrospective study of a repres

Relevance of anti-Mullerian hormone measurement in a routine IVF program.

BACKGROUND: Diminished ovarian reserve has become a major cause of infertility. Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) seems to be a promising candidate to assess ovarian reserve and predict the response to controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH). This prospective study was conducted to evaluate the relevance of AMH in a routine IVF program. METHODS: Three hundred and sixteen patients were prospectively enrolled to enter their first IVF/ICSI-cycle. Age, FSH-, inhibin B- and AMH-levels and their predictive values for ovarian response and clinical pregnancy rate were compared by discriminant analyses.

[Genetics and molecular pathology of anti-Mullerian hormone and its receptor].

Anti-müllerian hormone (AMH), a glycoprotein produced by immature Sertoli cells, is responsible in male fetuses for regression of müllerian ducts, the anlagen of Fallopian tubes and uterus in females. AMH binds to a specific type II serine-threonine kinase transmembrane receptor (AMHR-II). A known pathology of AMH and its receptor is the persistent müllerian ducts syndrome (PMDS), a peculiar case of male pseudohermaphroditism, presenting with retention of tubes and uterus in otherwise normally virilized boys, and transmitted with an autosomic recessive mode. Genetic studies on 76 families of p

Anti-mullerian hormone levels decline with the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies.

PROBLEM: Autoimmunity is thought to be an important cause of premature ovarian senescence, characterized by abnormal ovarian reserve markers. Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) has emerged as the most reliable marker for ovarian reserve. We here investigated whether non-specific immune markers are associated with a low age-specific AMH. METHOD OF STUDY: To test the hypothesis that autoimmunity may predispose to low AMH, we investigated in 351 female infertile patients whether panels positive for non-specific immune tests (antinuclear antibody, antiphospholipid antibodies [APAs], lupus anticoagulant

Anti-Mullerian hormone--is it a crystal ball for predicting ovarian ageing?

Several studies have demonstrated that anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is a better marker of ovarian reserve than age, basal FSH, estradiol and inhibin. AMH is very good in (i) predicting both over- and poor-response in the controlled ovarian stimulation environment, (ii) determining the most appropriate stimulation regimen and (iii) pre-treatment counselling for couples to make an appropriate and informed choice. Recent reports are exploring the use of AMH in various other indications, including (i) predicting long-term fertility and guiding how long a woman can delay childbearing without facing

Correlation of anti-Mullerian hormone with humanchorionic gonadotropin test in the evaluation of testicular function of children with 46 XY male hypogonadism: Use of anti-Mullerian hormone as abiomarker.

AIM: It is challenging to evaluate reproductive potential during childhood. These challenges necessitate the use of invasive dynamic tests. Although the anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) is a reliable biomarker in evaluating testicular function, especially in the pre-pubertal period, there are uncertainties concerning its use in a clinical setting. This study is focused on comparing the AMH and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) test in boys with hypogonadism. METHODS: A total of 160 boys aged between 0 and 18 years who presented with complaints associated with hypogonadism were prospectively enro
