The concentration of total protein and albumin was examined in the blood plasma of pig foetuses on the 112th day of pregnancy, piglets early weaned from sows and after 14 days, pigs at slaughter weight, and two groups of porkers given different amounts of protein from weaning to the age of 122 days. The purpose of this study was to examine the validity of albumin determinations in penguin plasma by the bromcresol green (BCG) method and the gold standard of protein electrophoresis (EPH). We describe a new automated dye-binding method for serum albumin determination with bromcresol purple (BCP) that has several advantages over an existing bromcresol green (BCG) method. Little definitive data are available concerning the effects of insulin deficiency on the hepatic uptake and biliary excretion of endogenous or xenobiotic substances. To expand our understanding of this area, male Sprague-Dawley rats were pretreated with streptozotocin (45 mg/kg i.v.) to induce uncontrolled diabetes.
