Adenosquamous carcinoma is a rare subtype of gallbladder tumours that often spreads to surrounding anatomical structures and, like malignant tumours of the gallbladder, is very aggressive. Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) of the stomach is a rare tumour. In this report we present a case of adenosquamous carcinoma in the antrum involving the duodenal bulb in a 84 year old woman. Two cases of primary adenosquamous carcinomas of the sigmoid colon and rectum are presented. Clinical features and pathologic findings of both primary and metastatic lesions are reported (including immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy). We emphasize that the presence of a metastatic squamous tumor in a patient with an unknown primary does not exclude the possibility of colonic carcinoma. A rare case of adenosquamous carcinoma in a 74 year-old man is reported. Presenting as a nodule on the soft palate, diagnosis was prolonged because of the benign macroscopic aspect. Two cases of adenosquamous carcinoma of the liver are presented. In one case, the carcinoma probably arose in the left hepatic duct, whereas in the other, it probably developed from a liver cyst. Only 10 other such tumors have been reported in the literature. A case of adenosquamous carcinoma of the renal pelvis is reported, associated with multiple staghorn calculi, occurring in a 35-year-old woman. A review of the literature revealed only two previously reported cases. Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) is a rare malignant tumor in the head and neck region and usually it occurs as a mucosal carcinoma. The World Health Organization classification1 shows this tumor as a variation of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), whereas the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) classification2 categorized it as a salivary gland tumor. Herein is described a unique case of esophageal cancer mimicking acantholytic squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The patient succumbed to the disease within one month of diagnosis. Adenosquamous carcinoma is a highly aggressive tumor, which can rarely arise from the ocular surface. The authors herein report a patient who presented with a 5 mm mass on the temporal conjunctiva that was clinically diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma. The lesion was surgically resected with cryopexy to the conjunctival wound edges. Histopathology and immunoractivity confirmed the diagnosis of adenosquamous carcinoma. Following topical interferon alpha 2b for 3 months, there has been no recurrence or distant metastsis during a follow-up of 12 months.
