Exploring Ketones in Chrysopogon zizanioides: A Computational Molecular Dynamic Approach to c-Met Modulation.

Glioblastoma demands the designing of potential drugs as there is no specific treatment available. In this study, we employed computational screening techniques to identify potential modulators of the c-Met receptor from a library of 273 Chrysopogon zizanioides derived compounds which can pass blood brain barrier (BBB) due to their low molecular weight and BBB permeability. Through rigorous molecular docking simulations utilizing Auto Dock Vina plugin integrated with Chimera software, Ketone (C29H56O) (IMPHY012701) emerged as a standout candidate, exhibiting a lower binding energy compared to

TLC-bioautography-guided valorization of vetiver (Chrysopogon spp.) leaf extracts into an anti-acne gel.

The growing issue of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in acne-related bacteria continues to undermine the effectiveness of standard treatments. This study examined the antibacterial potential of Chrysopogon spp. leaf biomass. The leaves, which are often discarded or used locally as mulch to help retain soil moisture, are an underused agricultural byproduct. Leaf extracts were obtained from five cultivars using different ethanol and water-based solvent systems and were screened against Cutibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus pyogenes. The 50% ethanolic extracts showed the st

Metabolic reconstruction and microbial network assembly immobilised heavy metals during soil function recovery in coal gangue.

Coal gangue stockpiling leads to considerable soil heavy metal contamination and ecological degradation. Vetiveria zizanioides (L.) exhibits strong phytoremediation potential; however, the mechanisms underlying heavy metal immobilisation during soil function recovery remains unclear. In this study, a spatiotemporal substitution method was applied to investigate soil heavy metal distribution, microbial communities, and metabolite profiles during a nine-year cultivation period of V. zizanioides in coal gangue. Long-term cultivation effectively immobilised heavy metals (Cr, Cu, and Zn), reduced t

Root chemistry and microbe interactions contribute to metal(loid) tolerance of an aromatic plant - Vetiver grass.

Aromatic plants, such as vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides), possess strong abilities to resist environmental stresses. However, whether such abilities stem from the interaction between specific chemical characteristics and the associated microbes in roots and rhizosphere remains unclear. We conducted pot experiments to analyze stress-tolerant parameters, organic compounds, and bacterial communities in roots and rhizosphere of vetiver under typical metal(loid) stress [cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), or Cd + As] over time. The results showed that the vetiver displayed limited toxic symptoms in

The role of plant uptake in total phosphorous and total nitrogen removal in vegetated bioretention cells using vetiver and cattail.

Bioretention cells have emerged as a prominent strategy for mitigating pollutant loads within urban stormwater runoff. This study delves into the role of plant uptake in the simultaneous removal of nitrogen and phosphorus compounds within these systems. Three bioretention cells-CP, P1, and P2-were constructed using local soil, C33 sand, and gravel. CP served as the unvegetated control, while P1 and P2 were vegetated with vetiver and cattail, respectively. The removal efficiencies of NO₃⁻-N, NH₃⁻-N, NO₂⁻-N, TN, TP, and COD from rainwater were evaluated under saturated and unsaturated conditions

Vegetation Restoration in Karst Southwest China: Effects of Plant Community Diversity and Soil Physicochemical Properties on Soil Cadmium.

In southwest China, vegetation restoration is widely used in karst rocky desertification control projects. However, mechanistic evidence explaining how plant community composition and species diversity regulate cadmium (Cd) bioavailability remains limited. Here, the plant community's species diversity, soil properties, Cd, and available Cd contents were evaluated. Four plant community types, NR (natural recovery), PMC (Pistacia weinmannifolia + Medicago sativa + Chrysopogon zizanioides), and PME (Pistacia weinmannifolia + Medicago sativa + Eragrostis curvula), were selected as the research obj
