Unraveling unmet needs in ketogenic dietary services: An ERN EpiCARE survey.

The implementation and potential of ketogenic dietary therapies (KDTs) have changed over time. The organization of KDT services, the availability of multidisciplinary teams, resources and support for patients and families still vary widely around the world. This diversity is reflected by a lack of consistency in reported outcomes, optimization of using KDT and KDT compliance. To highlight the unmet needs for KDT services, the ERN EpiCARE Ketogenic Dietary Therapy Special Interest Group (KDT SIG) conducted an online survey on KDT implementation and utilization, addressing the following topics:

Roles of Psychiatry, Dietary, and Oncology Services in Occupational Medicine: A Comprehensive Review.

Occupational medicine manages the interface between health and work. Many employees live with mental illness, cancer, or diet-related diseases in safety-critical roles. These burdens change attention, stamina, risk, and retention. Psychiatry stabilizes mood, sleep, cognition, and substance use. Dietetic services improve energy balance, hydration, and micronutrients. Oncology aligns staging, treatment, and survivorship with duty risk. Services are often siloed, delaying care and widening inequity. Teams need clear roles, shared tools, and models that fit shifts, heat, chemicals, and job design.

Leader-Inspired Nutrition: Promoting Safe Dietary Supplement Use for Service Members.

Military readiness and performance are critical to national defense. Service Members must maintain their health and fitness to remain deployable. Dietary supplement use in the military is prevalent and remains a significant concern due to rampant misinformation, product adulteration, and documented adverse events. In March 2022, the Department of Defense issued Instruction (DoDI) 6130.06: Use of Dietary Supplements in the DoD, formally establishing Operation Supplement Safety (OPSS) [1] as the program of record for everything related to dietary supplements. Leaders, as role models within their

Dietary Supplement Intake, Adverse Effects, and Reasons for Use by Military Service Members: A Narrative Review and Proposal for an Adverse Effects Surveillance System.

Extensive use of dietary supplements (DSs) by civilians and military service members (SMs) raises safety and efficacy issues. Adequate surveillance systems to detect dangerous DSs in the US marketplace do not exist. This paper reviews studies on SM DS use, safety, adverse effects (AEs), reasons for use, and knowledge as well as SM attitudes regarding DS safety, efficacy, and regulations. The findings are compared to US civilians and foreign SMs. Use of DSs by SMs has increased, from 53% (2006-2007) to 76% (2018-2019) in the Army. Compared to civilians, SMs use more DSs, and consume more potent

Targeted dietary interventions to reduce pain in persistent post-traumatic headache among service members: Protocol for a randomized, controlled parallel-group trial.

INTRODUCTION: Post-traumatic headache (PTH) is common after traumatic brain injury (TBI), especially among active-duty service members (SMs), affecting up to 35% of patients with chronic TBI. Persistent PTH is disabling and frequently unresponsive to treatment and is often migrainous. Here, we describe a trial assessing whether dietary modifications to increase n-3 eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and reduce n-6 linoleic acid (LA), will alter nociceptive lipid mediators and result in clinical improvements in persistent PTH. METHODS: This prospective, randomized, cont
