Information about drug abuse and dependence from package inserts of centrally acting drugs was evaluated for content. Of the 77 labels reviewed, 40 were opiate agonists, 18 were stimulants, and the remainder fell into other selected categories. The amount of information ranged from 0-66 sentences, with greatest variability found in the opiate agonists (range 9-66). Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a malignant tumor originating from the adrenal gland cortex with a heterogeneous but overall dismal prognosis in advanced stages. The wrappings and contents of 683 drug containers (bubbles) seized from 154 street dealers have been analysed since 2001, when the law enforcement policy in Hamburg, Germany, allowed the application of emetics to be used by so-called body stuffers for the recovery of swallowed drug packages. Of the bubbles recovered 96% contained cocaine. Cases of intoxication have not yet been observed but a 20-year-old man with a previously unknown toxic cardiomyopathy died 3 days after a sudden cardiac arrest which followed the forced application of ipecacuanha via correctly placed nasogastral tube.

The first reported case of acepromazine ingestion in a pediatric patient is presented. It is an aliphatic phenothiazine that is structurally similar to chlorpromazine (thorazine). In our case, a 2 1/2-year-old male ingested 3 to 4 of his 80-pound Doberman's 25-mg tablets. The pills were stored in a vial without a child-resistant closure. The child displayed signs and symptoms of phenothiazine toxicity. There is no federal law which requires veterinary medicines to be dispensed in special packaging. All prescription medications should require child-resistant packaging.

A 78-year-old man was admitted because of haematemesis. A week before, the patient was admitted for prostate resection. During that admission he ingested an analgesic tablet complete with foil packaging. Since then, he suffered from dysphagia.
