Ethnopharmacology, phytochemistry and pharmacology of Tephrosia purpurea.

Tephrosia purpurea (L.) Pers. is popularly known as 'Sarapunkha' in classical Ayurvedic texts. It is a perennial plant belonging to the family Fabaceae, and occurs throughout the Indian subcontinent. T. purpurea is traditionally used to treat splenomegaly, cirrhosis, cough and cold, abdominal swelling and as an antidote in the Ayurvedic system of medicine. Phytochemical investigations indicate the presence of semiglabrin, pongamole, lanceolatins A and B, rutin, lupeol, and β-sitosterol. Flavonoids including (+)-tephrorin A and B, (+)-tephrosone, an isoflavone, 7, 4'-dihydroxy-3', 5'-dimethoxyi

Ethnopharmacology, chemodiversity, and bioactivity of Cephalotaxus medicinal plants.

Cephalotaxus is the only genus of Cephalotaxaceae family, and its natural resources are declining due to habitat fragmentation, excessive exploitation and destruction. In many areas of China, folk herbal doctors traditionally use Cephalotaxus plants to treat innominate swollen poison, many of which are cancer. Not only among Han people, but also among minority ethnic groups, Cephalotaxus is used to treat various diseases, e.g., cough, internal bleeding and cancer in Miao medicine, bruises, rheumatism and pain in Yao medicine, and ascariasis, hookworm disease, scrofula in She medicine, etc. Med

Cymbopogon species; ethnopharmacology, phytochemistry and the pharmacological importance.

Cymbopogon genus is a member of the family of Gramineae which are herbs known worldwide for their high essential oil content. They are widely distributed across all continents where they are used for various purposes. The commercial and medicinal uses of the various species of Cymbopogon are well documented. Ethnopharmacology evidence shows that they possess a wide array of properties that justifies their use for pest control, in cosmetics and as anti-inflammation agents. These plants may also hold promise as potent anti-tumor and chemopreventive drugs. The chemo-types from this genus have bee

Contribution to the ethnopharmacological study of the Canary Islands.

A large amount of ethnobotanical data of almost 200 botanical species used for medicinal purposes in the Canary Islands is presented. We are endeavouring to avoid the definitive loss of the islands' phytotherapeutic heritage, in view of the rapid social changes taking place over the last few years and hope that this work may serve to promote further pharmacological research that may confirm, scientifically and experimentally, the information presented here. A brief description of the geographical, botanical and historical circumstances is included. The species listed have been classified accor

Korean Artemisia species: phylogenomic authentication, ethnopharmacology, and commercial applications.

Artemisia species are integral to traditional Korean medicine and are increasingly used in medicinal and cosmeceutical products. However, taxonomic ambiguity, chemical variability, and limited clinical validation constrain their reliable therapeutic and commercial utilization. This review critically examines how phylogenomic evidence can be integrated with ethnopharmacology and phytochemistry to strengthen the authentication, scientific evaluation, and quality-controlled development of Artemisia taxa occurring in Korea. Its distinctive contribution is a Korea-focused synthesis linking chloropl
