Central giant cell granuloma, a fibro-osseous lesion, is more commonly found in the mandible and mainly in children and young adults. The lesion, which has a greater incidence in females, may be uni or multilocular. On the basis of clinical, radiological and histologic features, central giant cell granulomas can be classified as "non-aggressive" or "aggressive". Management involves surgical removal and in most cases the dentition can be maintained. Three cases of central giant cell granuloma are reported and they illustrate clinical features of the lesion, how differential diagnosis can be ass

A 56-year-old woman with annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma is reported. She had annular, slowly growing lesions on sun-exposed areas and the dorsum of one foot. Biopsies from both areas revealed a mid-dermal inflammatory infiltrate with many giant cells engulfing elastic fibres. The current nosological situation of this process is discussed. Actinic granuloma (AG) is a term coined by O'Brien in 1975 to describe a cutaneous process characterized by multiple annular lesions located on sun-exposed skin areas. The histopathology is defined by the presence of multinucleated giant cells conta

The case report presented describes a new variant of annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma. Over a period of 10 years, a 40-year-old woman had developed reticular, brown to livid, partly atrophic skin lesions on the shoulders and decolletée. The patient had no subjective symptoms. Histology revealed a patchy lymphohistiocytic infiltrate in the dermis, with many giant cells. Elastic fibres were less frequently found in these infiltrates; in a few of the giant cells and macrophages fragments of elastic fibres were demonstrated within the cytoplasm. There were no deposits of mucin. For this ne

A 71-year-old man with asymptomatic red papules on the trunk and upper arms was reported as a case of papular elastolytic giant cell granuloma. A skin biopsy specimen from a papule on the back showed similar findings to those of annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma. However, centrifugal annular lesions were not clinically observed. He was successfully treated with tranilast and topical steroids.

Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma (AEGCG) is a rare, often self-limiting chronic inflammatory disorder mostly occurring in the sun-exposed areas such as the dorsum of hands, extensor surfaces of arms, face, anterior neck, and upper chest. The pathognomonic histological findings include the presence of numerous granulomas associated with loss of elastic fibers that appear to be ingested by multi-nucleated giant cells. Here, we present a case of a 56-year-old woman with multiple, anatomically variable erythematous lesions- annular and papular, mainly in the upper body. The clinical presen

BACKGROUND: Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma (AEGCG) is a rare form of granulomatous dermatosis. It is characterised histologically by phagocytosis of elastic fibres by multinucleated cells. We report a favourable outcome in a case of AEGCG following PUVA therapy and treatment with synthetic antimalarials.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: A 67-year-old retired wine grower presented with highly pruritic annular lesions with raised borders on the shoulders and trunk that had been present for several months. Histological examination of a biopsy sample from the erythematous border was characteristic

BACKGROUND: Annular elastolytic giant-cell granuloma (AEGCG) is a rare form of granulomatous dermatosis characterized by annular plaques with central atrophy and raised erythematous margins and is usually located on the facial and neck areas. It is characterized histologically by loss of elastic fibre and elastophagocytosis. We report a case of AEGCG.
CASE REPORT: A 72-year-old man consulted for annular plaques, some of which were atrophic, and papules that had been present for 2 years. The lesions involved sun-exposed and non-sun-exposed skin. The biopsies showed granulomatous infiltrates an

Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma is a granulomatous process that presents as slowly growing annular papules and plaques on sun-exposed skin. It was first described in patients in the fourth and fifth decades of life. These lesions are primarily distributed on the head and neck. A review of the literature shows a preponderance of cases in adults. We report two cases of annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma developing in children under the age of 11 years.

We present a case of a giant cell reparative granuloma of the frontoethmoidal region that had a large intracranial extraaxial component and was studied with MR. Although rare, giant cell reparative granuloma can be suggested in the correct clinical setting and when MR features suggest a fibrous lesion.

Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma (AEGCG) is a clinical and histological entity, which has been described previously in various different terms. Knowledge of AEGCG is of importance, since its misdiagnosis may lead to improper therapy; e.g. longterm tuberculostatic or corticosteroid treatment. In the present paper two patients with typical AEGCG are described and the clinical and histological differential diagnosis is discussed in detail.

"Giant cell reparative granuloma" was introduced into medical literature by Jaffe in 1953. Prior to that time most authors considered this lesion to be a variant of the benign giant cell tumor of the long bones, or a giant cell variant of osteitis fibrosa. Bernier and Cahn established the subdivision between the rare central giant cell reparative granuloma and the common peripheral epulis. In the past, considerable emphasis has been placed on the importance of differentiating the true giant cell tumor from the giant cell reparative granuloma of the jaw bones. Most authors now believe the true

Actinic granuloma and annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma are different terms used to define skin lesions characterized by elastolysis, elastophagocytosis, and multinucleated giant cell infiltrate. The clinical appearance varies from papules to annular plaques. Although elastolytic actinic giant cell granuloma shares some clinical features with granuloma annulare, they can be differentiated by histopathologic findings. The disease is initiated by an immune response triggered by different factors that alter the elastic tissue. The course tends to be chronic, with variable response to treat

A 49-year-old woman had large annular lesions with raised erythematous borders and atrophic, hypopigmented central regions on her neck, trunk, and proximal upper extremities. Examination of a biopsy specimen demonstrated a granulomatous infiltrate in the upper dermis that surrounded areas lacking elastic fibers; elastic fibers were present within the multinucleated giant cells. The clinical presentation and pathologic findings were consistent with a diagnosis of annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma (AEGCG). The clinical description and pathologic differential diagnosis of AEGCG are reviewe

We treated a 13-year-old girl who had annular erythematous lesions with central atrophic areas, which had been present on her trunk and limbs for 4 months. Histological examination revealed patchy dermal lymphohistocytic infiltration with multinucleated giant cells which were phagocytosing elastic fibers, causing them to disappear. The active border of the lesions regressed after intradermal injection of corticosteroids. The classification of the disease and its differential diagnosis from the usual granuloma annulare, inflammatory anetoderma, O'Brien's actinic granuloma, and Convit's disease

INTRODUCTION: Peripheral giant cell granuloma (PGCG) is a benign reactive lesion that typically arises from the gingiva or edentulous alveolar ridge. Although superficial pressure resorption of the underlying bone has been described, extensive cortical erosion mimicking a central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) is exceptionally uncommon, particularly in pediatric patients, creating a significant diagnostic challenge.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 10-year-old boy presented with an exophytic gingival mass involving the right mandibular alveolar ridge. Although the lesion appeared clinically peripheral, cone

Introduction. Pyogenic granuloma (PG) and peripheral giant-cell granuloma (PGCG) are two of the most common inflammatory lesions associated with implants; however, there is no established pathway for treatment of these conditions. This paper aims to illustrate the successful treatment of PG and PGCG and also report a systematic review of the literature regarding the various treatments proposed. Methods. To collect relevant information about previous treatments for PG and PGCG involving implants we carried out electronic searches of publications with the key words "granuloma", "oral", and "impl

Giant cell tumour (GCT) is locally aggressive benign neoplasm of long bones whereas giant cell granulomas; central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) and peripheral giant cell granuloma (PGCG); are tumour-like conditions of the oral cavity. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the immunohistochemical expression of p63 in GCT, CGCG, PGCG and determine whether p63 can be used as a diagnostic, prognostic and differential biomarker between these entities. Histopathologically diagnosed 10 cases of GCT, 20 cases of CGCG and 20 cases of PGCG were subjected to p63 immunohistochemical staining. The percen

The case report is of a 30 year old male, who complained of a slowly expanding swelling in the maxilla in the left premolar region. The swelling was clinically and radiographically diagnosed as Central Giant Cell Granuloma. The patient also had Angles Class 2 Division 2 Malocclusion in which repeated micro trauma may have possibly contributed to the formation of the tumor. The tumor was surgically removed under general anesthesia followed by local injections of corticosteroids.
