INTRODUCTION: Cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery are among the specialties that most commonly require neurology inpatient consultations. We aimed to study the neurology referrals by the cardiovascular-specialized hospital included in our tertiary hospital center.
METHODS: Retrospective study of consecutive patients referred for neurology inpatient consultation between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2022. We analyzed referrals, patients' characteristics, and the approach taken. A detailed subanalysis was performed for patients diagnosed with acute ischemic stroke (AIS).

BACKGROUND: splenectomy has been elected surgical procedure for multiple hematologic diseases, specially for Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura. Sixteen patients were returned to Ashworth in a one-year period (five second admissions, 10 failed leave of absence and one warrant of recall) making up 31% of admissions for the year. Demographic details and reasons for return were collected. Fifty per cent of patients had a clinical diagnosis of personality disorder. Reasons for return included relapse of psychosis, persistent transgression of boundaries, aggression or threatened aggression, unsuitable placements and failure to progress towards discharge.

The specially equipped hospital units (UHSA) receive detainees in the region (men, women, minors) requiring full psychiatric hospitalization, either in free care or in care by decision of the State representative. They are located on the site of hospitals, but a penitentiary enclosure allows for the control of the entry and exit of patients, as well as the security of the perimeter. BACKGROUND: The 'Young Persons Unit' (YPU) at Broadmoor Hospital offers psychotherapeutic treatment for young adult male patients. The study objective was to report background details, treatment and outcome of the ward's personality disordered patients.
METHODS: The sample consisted of 49 patients, with the legal classification of psychopathic disorder, treated on the unit for at least one year. Data were collected from existing case records. A differential approach to surgical interventions corresponding to the system of treatment of patients with gastrointestinal bleedings developed by the authors gave considerably less lethality in patients with bleedings caused by acute gastric and duodenal ulcers and by the Mallory-Weiss syndrome. General lethality among these patients was 3.3% and 5.1% correspondingly. This system was most effective at large specialized centers for treatment of patients with acute gastrointestinal bleedings. However many of its principles are easy for a great number of practical surgeons.

We report the results of a retrospective study of 108 cases of pleural empyema collected in the Pneumo-Phthisiology Department of the National Hospital of "Point G" from September 1984 to August 1990. The sex-ratio is 3/1 in favour of males with a mean age of 35.5 years. The pleural empyema represent 2.2% of all patients admitted in the Hospital and 20.2% of liquid effusions of the Pleura observed during the study period.
