Primary colonic tumours with synchronous ileal carcinoid tumours are rare in occurrence and are mainly found incidentally on autopsies or pathological examination of resected surgical specimens. PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Small intestinal neuroendocrine neoplasms (siNENs) are slowly growing tumours with a low malignant potential. However, more than half of the patients present with distant metastases (stage IV) and nearly all with locoregional lymph node (LN) metastases at the time of surgery. The value of locoregional treatment is discussed controversially.
RECENT FINDINGS: In stage I to III disease, locoregional surgery was currently shown to be curative prolonging survival. In stage IV disease, surgery may prolong survival in selected patients with the chance to cure locoregional disease

RATIONALE: Metastatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) to the breast are very rare entities comprising only 1% to 2% of all metastatic breast tumors. Prolapse of the ileal mucosa through the ileo-caecal valve or minor ileo-caecal intussuception is not uncommon and may occasionally be mistaken radiologically for a caecal neoplasm, especially if intestinal obstruction, abdominal pain or rectal bleeding is present. Colonoscopic visualisation and biopsy is important before surgery is advised. We describe a case of ileal mucosa prolapse masquerading as a caecal neoplasm on barium enema study. Colonoscopy showed prolapse of the ileal mucosa which was easily reduced by air insufflation and therefore unnecessary surgery was avoided.

INTRODUCTION: Intussusception in adults accounts for less than 5% of all intussusceptions. It occurs when a segment of intestine invaginates into itself.
PRESENTATION OF A CASE: We report a case of ileocolic intussusception in an adult caused by a giant ileal lipoma.
DISCUSSION: Intussusceptions can be classified as ileocolic, ileocecal, colo-colic and ileo-ileal. Most are due to neoplasms (60% malign and 24-40% benign). Small bowel lipomas are benign submucosal neoplasm composed mainly of mature adipose tissue. Despite their rare occurrence, lipomas are the second most common benign tumour of the small intestine. These tumours are mostly small in size and remain clinically asymptomatic. However, larger lesions tend to be more symptomatic, presenting with complications such as intussusception, bleeding or obstruction. Neuroendocrine neoplasms of the small intestine are some of the most frequently occurring along the gastrointestinal tract, even though their incidence is extremely variable according to specific sites. Jejunal-ileal neuroendocrine neoplasms account for about 27% of gastrointestinal NETs making them the second most frequent NET type. The aim of this review is to classify all tumors following the WHO 2019 classification and to describe their pathologic differences and peculiarities.

Two patients who had undergone proctocolectomy for ulcerative colitis developed lesions in their ileal stoma that appeared to be inflammatory polyps morphologically similar to those encountered in the large intestine of ulcerative colitis patients. Neurofibromas are benign neoplasms that are usually seen in hereditary disorders such as von Recklinghausen's disease [neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1)]. The occurrence of isolated ileal neurofibroma in patients without the classic manifestations of NF1 or multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) syndromes is an extremely rare entity . We report one such case of isolated ileal neurofibroma in a 60 year old woman without any other stigmata of NF. It may be the initial manifestation of NF1 or MEN 2b or malignant transformation, all of which necessitate further follow-up of these patients.

Laparoscopic nephrectomy is quickly becoming accepted as the standard treatment for small renal neoplasms and benign renal disease.
