After years of confusion about apparently distinct clinical disease symptoms, the term IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) has been coined in 2001, uniting these fibroinflammatory clinical entities with a tendency for tumorous enlargement and tissue fibrosis. Over the past two decades, experimental and clinical studies could make astounding progress in the understanding of this elusive disease. By now, we have a reasonable idea of the pathophysiological mechanisms, which opens up new avenues for therapeutic approaches. It seems like a dense lymphoplasmacytic cell infiltrate, consisting of B‑cells,

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is an emerging fibro-inflammatory condition known to involve potentially every organ system in the body, especially the kidneys, and is characterized by interstitial nephritis, obstructive nephropathy, and in rare cases, glomerular nephropathy. In this article, we report two cases of IgG4-RD with renal manifestations, hospitalized in the Department of Internal Medicine of the Principal Military Hospital of Instruction of Tunis. In conclusion, the clinical course of IgG4-related kidney disease varies widely and it can sometimes be difficult to diagnos

Immunoglobuline G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a systemic disease that can involve virtually any organs including the biliary tract and liver. The biliary tract involvement of IgG4-RD is known as IgG4-sclerosing cholangitis (IgG4-SC) and may or may not present with an inflammatory pseudotumor. Large bile ducts such as extrahepatic, hilar, and perihilar ducts are typically affected and demonstrate marked bile duct wall thickening and develop strictures. Histologically, the involved ducts show transmural dense lymphoplasmacytic infiltrates with storiform fibrosis extending into peribiliary glan

Immunoglobulin-G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is an autoimmune-mediated spectrum of diseases, characterized by infiltration of IgG4+ plasma cells into one or multiple organs, with the pancreas being the most commonly affected organ. The disease mostly affects middle-aged to elderly men. Diagnosis requires an integration of clinical, radiologic, pathologic, and serologic studies. Histologically, there is an increased infiltration of IgG4+ plasma cells, elevated ratio of IgG4+/IgG plasma cells of more than 40%, and a storiform pattern of fibrosis. There may be eosinophilia, along with elevated IgG

Immunoglobulin G4 related disease (IgG4-RD) is a relatively newly defined disease known for multiple organ involvement. Histopathologically, the disease is characterized by lymphoplasmatic inflammation, fibrosis, and enhanced levels of IgG4-positive plasma cells in tissues. IgG4-RD has been reported in almost every organ system. With pulmonary involvement, lesions have been described in the lung parenchyma, airways, pleura, and the mediastinum. Glucocorticoids are the first choice of treatment, but additional immunosuppressive drugs may be administered in refractory patients. In this article,

IgG4-related disease is a recently defined clinical entity that can manifest itself in any organ. The most common gastrointestinal manifestations are diseases of the pancreas (autoimmune pancreatitis type 1) and biliary tree (IgG4-associated cholangitis); involvement of liver parenchyma is uncommon and the affection of tubular organs is very rare. IgG4-related pancreatitis and cholangitis can mimic malignancies in their clinical presentation. Diagnosis is often difficult and requires careful evaluation of the combination of symptoms, serology and imaging findings, while adhering to the establi

Immunoglobulin (Ig) G4-related disease (also known as 'IgG4-related sclerosing disease', 'IgG4-related systemic disease' or 'hyper-IgG4-disease') is a recently recognized systemic fibroinflammatory disease associated with IgG4-positive plasma cells in tissue lesions. IgG4-related disease was initially described as autoimmune pancreatitis, but it is now known to affect virtually any organ. The authors describe a patient presenting with multi-organ manifestations, including airway inflammation mimicking asthma, pulmonary parenchymal infiltrates, intrathoracic lymphadenopathy, submandibular gland

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is an increasingly recognized immune-mediated condition comprised of a collection of disorders that share specific pathological, serological, and clinical features. IgG4-RD is a fibroinflammatory condition with a tendency to form tumors with inflammatory infiltrate with IgG4 rich plasma cells and elevation of serum IgG4, which may affect virtually every organ and tissue. IgG4-related ophthalmic disease may present as dacryoadenitis, myositis, or involvement of other orbital tissue. Hypophysitis or pachymeningitis may manifest as cranial neuropathies.

OBJECTIVES: Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is characterized by elevation in serum IgG4 levels, typical multiorgan involvement and dramatic response to steroid therapy. We determined the predictive value of an elevated serum IgG4 for the diagnosis of IgG4-RD. We also sought to identify novel conditions, which have characteristic features of IgG4-RD.
METHODS: We identified all Mayo Clinic Rochester patients with serum IgG4 levels measured between January 2008 and December 2011 (n = 6014). Those with elevated serum IgG4 levels (reference range, 121-140 mg/dL) were included in the an

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4 RD) has a fair prognosis but its diagnosis has been difficult due to the condition's wide range of clinical manifestations, limited awareness among common practitioners, and various differentials. Here, we present a case of an elderly male who presented with recurrent dental caries, recurrent sinusitis, persistent dry mouth, and dry eyes along with bilateral parotid gland enlargement without any lymphadenopathy. The patient was evaluated further and found to have elevated levels of IgG4 and on histopathological examination of the parotid gland showed lym

PURPOSE: Clinical phenotypes in Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) according to the patterns of affecting organs have different risks of malignancies. We attempt to determine the association of malignancies with IgG4-related ophthalmic disease (IgG4-ROD).
DESIGN: Retrospective cohort study.
METHODS: Review of medical records, orbital images and histopathology reports in a territory-wide cohort of biopsy proven IgG4-ROD patients from 2005-2019.
FINDINGS: Among 122 patients who had biopsies taken from adnexal lesions including lacrimal glands (n = 108), orbital mass (n = 30), infiltr

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD), which affects many organ systems, has been recognized as a distinct clinical entity in human medicine for just over a decade but has not been previously identified in dogs. In humans, IgG4-RD is characterized by diffuse IgG4-positive lymphoplasmacytic infiltrates that commonly lead to increased serum concentrations of IgG4 and IgE, peripheral eosinophilia, tumorous swellings that often include the parotid salivary glands, obliterative phlebitis, and extensive fibrosis. Herein we describe the diagnosis, clinical progression, and successful treatment

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) can involve nearly any organ system, including the central and peripheral nervous systems. IgG4 antibodies are not known to play a primary etiologic role in disease. IgG4-RD must be distinguished from a growing number of immune-mediated conditions in which IgG4 autoantibodies contribute directly to pathophysiology. The most common neurologic features of IgG4-RD result from disease in the orbits, pachymeninges, and substance of the pituitary gland and stalk, as well as a perineuropathy that can involve peripheral or cranial nerves. INTRODUCTION: Immunglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related disease was recently described and represents a systemic lymphoproliferative disorder. The orbital form of the disease manifests as chronic lid swelling and proptosis. Visual disturbances may occur due to apical orbital lesions.
CASE REPORT: A 65-year old pacient presents with the impossibility of maintaining his right eye open due to a progressive swelling of the upper lid. The general clinical examination shows adenopathy at 3 lymph node stations of the head. On ophthalmologic examination, a large tumor of the upper lid is observed in the right

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS: Immunoglobulin (Ig)G4-related disease is a systemic syndrome, characterized by sclerosing lesions that mainly affect the exocrine tissue. Although some patients with IgG4-related disease complain of nasal symptoms, there are few reports concerning the nasal manifestations of this disease. We investigated the clinical and pathological features of the nasal manifestations of IgG4-related disease.
STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective review in a tertiary referral hospital.
METHODS: Twenty-three consecutive patients with IgG4-related disease, six allergic rhinitis (AR) patients, an

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease has become the focus of interest in recent years. The disease is characterized by inflammation of the organs involved, often with a macroscopic appearance suggestive of a tumor, elevated immuno-globulin G4 levels, immunoglobulin G4-positive plasma cell infiltration on histological examination, fibrosis, oblit-erative phlebitis, and typically a rapid therapeutic response to corticosteroids. The disease can show a variety of organ manifestations, with frequent involvement of exocrine glands. Among the endocrine organs, symptoms may appear in the thyroid gland an

Immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related arteritis/periarteritis commonly involves the aorta, carotid arteries, and coronary arteries but rarely involves the temporal artery. Here, we report a case of IgG4-related periarteritis involving the temporal artery. A 79-year-old man presented with fever, bilateral leg pain, and bilateral jaw claudication. Physical examination revealed the absence of the right temporal artery pulse. Ultrasonography of the right temporal artery showed vessel wall thickening, and biopsy revealed marked infiltration of IgG4-positive plasma cells in the adventitia. Serum IgG4 lev

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) comprises a group of immune-mediated diseases that, until recently, were considered separate entities. These entities have a similar clinical presentation, serological findings, and pathogenesis, so they are currently considered a single multisystemic disease. The common characteristic is the infiltration of involved tissues by plasma cells and lymphocytes that are positive for IgG4. Three major criteria have been proposed for the diagnosis of IgG4-RD: clinical, laboratory, and histological. The pancreas is the organ that is most affected by IgG4-RD,
