Intercorrelations between the KJP Dream Inventory, Stanford Sleepiness Scale, and the Brayfield-Rothe Job Satisfaction Questionnaire from a database of 56 graduate students gave small significant correlations between job satisfaction and age (.32), repetitive traumatic dreaming, (-.30), being chased in one's dreams (-.35), and sleepiness (-.30). Associations of employment status with sleepiness, dream discontent, and dreams of being famous were also evident. Results were discussed in terms of the hypothesized relationship between contentedness or discontentedness and their association with sle

This research concerns the relationship of subjective stress, job satisfaction, and job performance in hospital nurses. Obtained were self reports from 366 nurses, and performance ratings from 165 supervisors and 139 co-workers nominated by the original respondents. Reported are the results of exploratory path analyses, based on a general model, whereby standardized beta coefficients were used to estimate paths. The findings are that stress and job satisfaction are not directly related, and that stress, primarily acting through depression, is associated with lower levels of job performance. Jo

OBJECTIVES: Although many of the well known work characteristics associated with job satisfaction in home health care have been documented, a unique aspect of the home health care aides' (HHA) work environment that might also affect job satisfaction is the fact that their workplace is a household. To obtain a better understanding of the potential impact of the risks/exposures/hazards within the household environment on job satisfaction and job retention in home care, we recently conducted a risk assessment study.
METHODS: Survey data from a convenience sample of 823 New York City HHAs were ob

BACKGROUND: Job stress and demand were known to contribute to physical and psychological distress, poor job satisfaction, and burnout among dental hygienists prior to the pandemic. Added stress from the COVID-19 pandemic likely influenced these factors. Little research has been conducted to examine the influence of these factors on dental hygienists.
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to characterize job stressors, physical distress factors, and psychological distress factors for dental hygienists working during the COVID-19 pandemic. It aimed to assess if these factors were directly as

INTRODUCTION: Community pharmacists (CPs) are the most accessible healthcare professionals in primary care due to pharmacies' open-door policy and convenience, resulting in high patient and prescription volumes, and numerous free-of-charge consultations. Therefore, they are at high risk for burnout.
OBJECTIVES: The primary objective of this study was to assess the levels of burnout among community pharmacists in Greece, marking the first investigation of its kind within the country. Additionally, this study aimed to explore potential correlations between demographic variables and other health

Proposals for casinos usually focus on numbers of jobs without considering their quality. We surveyed 1,506 Macau residents, modelling happiness and job satisfaction. Being employed is shown to be important for 'happiness'. But job attributes also matter, confirming the work domain as influential on wellbeing. Casino employees report similar happiness as others. However, despite relatively high pay, they report low overall job satisfaction. The particular aspects of their jobs that they rated generally negatively tended to be those inherent in casino employment rather than easily modifiable by

BACKGROUND: Increased stress, burnout, and lack of job satisfaction may contribute to a decline in work performance, absenteeism, and intent to leave one's job or field. We undertook to determine organizational, job-specific, and personal predictors of level of burnout among respiratory care practitioners (RCPs). We also examined the relationships among burnout, job satisfaction (JS), absenteeism, and RCPs' intent to leave their job or the field.
METHODS: A pilot-tested assessment instrument was mailed to all active NBRC-credentialed RCPs in Georgia (n = 788). There were 458 usable returns (5

IntroductionPrehospital emergency medical services play a critical role in caring for patients with urgent medical needs. However, the time-pressured and unpredictable nature of this work places substantial stress on emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Over time, such stress may lead to job dissatisfaction and turnover intentions, ultimately undermining the quality of prehospital emergency care and adversely affecting both patient outcomes and EMTs' physical and psychological well-being. Accordingly, this study aimed to: (1) examine the effects of job engagement on burnout among EMTs; (2) an

This study examines the effect of digital leadership on job performance and job satisfaction, focusing on the mediating role of organizational trust. Utilizing a quantitative research design, data were collected via an online survey from 443 public employees working within the Ministry of Youth and Sports across Kırşehir, Nevşehir, Yozgat, and Aksaray. The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The measurement model demonstrated satisfactory reliability and validity. Structural model testing and bootstrap analysis revealed that digital leadership has a sig

BACKGROUND: Occupational stress is associated with specific situations, characteristics of the work environment, and individual perceptions and reactions in the context of the workplace, but many nursing studies of occupational stress have tended to analyse aspects related to the job itself. In Brazil nursing is acknowledged as a stressful occupation whose stresses are generally associated with the job itself, while the effects of personal characteristics on an individual's response to occupational stress are dismissed.
AIMS: The aim of this paper is to describe: (1) occupational stress, job

OBJECTIVES: The workplace is considered one of the key settings in which to promote health and wellbeing. Reviews of workplace health promotion have shown that workplace interventions can positively impact on mental health, nutrition, and physical activity, and can impact positively on economic indicators such as absenteeism. One of the research gaps is workplace health promotion for people with an intellectual disability. This is an important gap to address as people with an intellectual disability have higher rates of avoidable mortality relative to the general population, increased rate of

Job satisfaction and the resource-building processes it supports may have meaningful implications for health and well-being. These processes may work differently for employees who have informal (i.e., unpaid) caregiving duties outside of work. Guided by conservation of resources theory, we examined two indirect stress-buffering pathways in a sample of 799 nursing home workers, measured four times over 18 months. We tested how job satisfaction affects gain strengthening (via higher positive spillover) and loss weakening (via lower work-family conflict), how these processes impact indices of phy

BACKGROUND: Job satisfaction, as a multidimensional psychological response to work experience, includes both cognitive and affective components which influence individuals' appraisals and state of minds. In recent years, researchers have begun to explore the psychological processes that might underlie the dispositional causes of job satisfaction. Affective temperaments can influence the experience of emotionally significant events at work and this, in turn, may influence job satisfaction.
OBJECTIVE: To investigate possible associations between affective temperamental features and job satisfac

The job-satisfaction scores of 107 work-injured employees were correlated with return to work status at 20 weeks postinjury. There was a slight tendency for the more satisfied employees to be back at work.

BACKGROUND: Working life has become increasingly demanding due to rapid socioeconomic and technological changes. Intensified job demands (IJDs) involve increased work pace, workload, and multitasking, increased requirements for autonomous planning and decision-making regarding daily work and careers, and a continuous need to update one’s knowledge and skills. Depending on their nature, IJDs may represent either positive challenges or strain-inducing stressors for employees. Healthcare professionals face increasing demands from evolving medical practices, an aging society, digitalization, and r
