This study evaluated the effects of bacterial lysates derived from Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus and L. reuteri on oral wound healing in a rat model. Forty-eight female Wistar rats were randomly assigned to four groups: PBS (group A), L. rhamnosus lysate (group B), L. reuteri lysate (group C), and a combination of both (group D). Full-thickness 1×1 mm wounds were created on the buccal mucosa, and treatments (50 μg/mL) were applied topically every other day. Wound healing was assessed on days 3, 7, 14, and 21 through macroscopic evaluation, histological analysis (H&E staining), and measurement o

Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GR-1 (LGR-1) (previously classified as Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1) is the most researched probiotic strain for women's health. Its various urogenital health effects, including a reduction in the recurrence of bacterial vaginosis and urinary-tract infection, are well documented. The strain has also been safely used by HIV-positive subjects, a portion of whom have reported reduced diarrhea and increased CD4 counts. Unlike most probiotic strains used for urogenital health, LGR-1 has been extensively studied for its properties, including its genomic and metabolic tra

Idiopathic male infertility is characterized by increased mortality or reduced motility and vitality of sperm. There are several reports on probiotics in the male reproductive tract, but the effects of these probiotics on sperm motility remain to be elucidated. In this study, we investigated the impact and mechanism of probiotics on the vitality and motility of mouse sperm. We collected mature sperm from the caudal vas deferens of mice and prepared three probiotics donated by HEM Pharma Inc.: Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus, Limosilactobacillus fermentum, and Lacticaseibacillus paracasei. We anal

We evaluated whether viable and non-viable Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus CRL1505 (Lr05V or Lr05NV, respectively) was able to improve emergency myelopoiesis induced by Streptococcus pneumoniae (Sp) infection. Adult Swiss-mice were orally treated with Lr05V or Lr05NV during five consecutive days. The Lr05V and Lr05NV groups and untreated control group received an intraperitoneal dose of cyclophosphamide (Cy-150 mg/kg). Then, the mice were nasally challenged with Sp (107 UFC/mice) on day 3 post-Cy injection. After the pneumococcal challenge, the innate and myelopoietic responses were evaluated. Th

Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus Lcr35 is a well-known bacterial strain whose efficiency in preventing recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis has been largely demonstrated in clinical trials. The presence of sodium thiosulfate (STS) has been shown to enhance its ability to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans strains. In this study, we confirmed that Lcr35 has a fungicidal effect not only on the planktonic form of C. albicans but also on other life forms such as hypha and biofilm. Transcriptomic analysis showed that the presence of C. albicans induced a metabolic adaptation of Lcr35 potentially asso

The human pathobiont Streptococcus pyogenes forms biofilms and causes infections, such as pharyngotonsillitis and necrotizing fasciitis. Bacterial biofilms are more resilient to antibiotic treatment, and new therapeutic strategies are needed to control biofilm-associated infections, such as recurrent pharyngotonsillitis. Lactiplantibacillus plantarum and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus are two bacterial commensals used for their probiotic properties. This study aimed to elucidate the anti-biofilm properties of L. plantarum and L. rhamnosus cell-free supernatants (LPSN and LRSN, respectively) on S

Dysbiosis of the vaginal microbiome as a result of overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria, such as Gardnerella vaginalis, and low levels of "Работает" lactobacilli leads to bacterial vaginosis (BV), usually associated with a low-grade inflammatory process. Despite appropriate antibiotic treatment, G. vaginalis-associated BV is characterized by significant recurrence. The use of probiotics could be an interesting alternative therapy due to their ability to rebalance vaginal microbiota. In this study, we investigated the effects of a well-characterized probiotic strain, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus Lcr

This study explored the immunomodulatory properties of the probiotic strains Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus LR-32 and Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-5 by evaluating their effects on human dendritic cell (DC) responses. Immature DCs were obtained from human CD14⁺ monocytes and challenged with E. coli LPS and/or probiotic lactobacilli at a DC ratio of 1:10. Relative transcription of inflammatory mediators and pattern-recognition receptors was assessed by RT-qPCR. Cytokine production and surface marker expression were evaluated by ELISA and flow cytometry, respectively. DC function was further assess

Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) is a widely used probiotic but has limited applications in dairy fermentation because of its poor lactose utilization. Here, we generated a lactose-positive LGG derivative using the LGG endogenous CRISPR-Cas system achieving a marker-free, scarless 20-bp deletion to disrupt the t1 transcriptional terminator upstream of the lactose operon. Using lactose-based selection, lactose-positive derivatives were then isolated and confirmed a restored functional lacG allele by sequencing. After curing the editing plasmid, the final strain, MJM570, was obtained. Whole

Respiratory diseases are a leading cause of morbidity in children globally, with significant healthcare costs. The overuse of conventional treatments like antibiotics has raised concerns about antibiotic resistance and side effects. Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG), one of the most extensively studied probiotics, has gained attention as a potential adjunct therapies due to their ability to modulate the gut microbiota and immune responses. This review aims to assess the effectiveness of LGG in managing pediatric respiratory diseases, including respiratory tract infections (RTI), cystic fib

Oral candidiasis presents with multiple clinical manifestations. Among known pathogenic Candida species, Candida albicans is the most virulent and acts as the main causative fungus of oral candidiasis. Novel treatment modalities are needed because of emergent drug resistance and frequent candidiasis recurrence. Here, we evaluated the ability of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus L8020, isolated from healthy and caries-free volunteers, to prevent against the onset of oral candidiasis in a mouse model. Mice were infected with C. albicans, in the presence or absence of L. rhamnosus L8020. The mice were

OBJECTIVE: The gut microbiome is a critical regulator of host metabolism, yet how intermittent fasting (IF) remodels the gut ecosystem independent of dietary composition remains unclear. This study aimed to isolate the effect of feeding rhythm on the gut microbiome and identify specific microbial taxa mediating IF-induced metabolic changes.
METHODS: We employed a family-based 'shared meal' model that strictly standardized dietary composition across all participants. Five healthy adults (3 males, 2 females) from a single family participated in a pilot, hypothesis-generating 4-week 16:8 IF inte

Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus is an important strain for the biotransformation of natural products, and its crude extract exhibits biotransformation effect on glycosidic compounds such as baicalin. To further explore the potential of this strain, particularly given its previously demonstrated high-efficiency β-glucuronidase activity for baicalin conversion, whole-genome sequencing and functional annotation of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus HP-B1083 were performed in this study, and its acid tolerance, bile salt tolerance, short-term heat resistance and antibacterial activity were evaluated. Impaired wound healing is a major complication of diabetes mellitus, characterized by delayed wound closure and prolonged inflammation. Current therapies focus largely on local wound management and do not address systemic factors contributing to defective repair. Probiotics have emerged as modulators of immune and metabolic pathways, but evidence for strain-specific, orally mediated effects on diabetic wound healing remains limited. This exploratory study investigated whether oral supplementation with Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus PB01 influences wound healing in a streptozotocin-induced diabet

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Diabetes mellitus (DM) increases the risk of oral candidiasis by impairing immunity and enhancing Candida virulence. Although Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) has antifungal potential, its effect in diabetes remains unclear. This study evaluated the efficacy of LGG against C. albicans and C. tropicalis in diabetic rats.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A fungal suspension (1×107 CFU/mL) was applied to the tongue for three days in the controls and experimental groups of male alloxan-induced diabetic Sprague-Dawley rats. Then, LGG (0.3 mL of 1×108 CFU/mL) was administered

Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus is one of the most extensively studied and well-characterized probiotic species. The strain L. rhamnosus OF44, originally isolated from a healthy female fecal sample, has shown particular promise for its ability to modulate the vaginal microenvironment through pH reduction and inflammation control. However, its comprehensive safety profile remains unclear. In this study, we systematically evaluated the safety of the previously identified strain L. rhamnosus OF44 through a series of standardized assessments. Genomic analysis (99.9% coverage) revealed the absence of

Staphylococcus aureus is a leading cause of skin and soft tissue infections and a major nosocomial pathogen, with biofilm formation contributing to significantly higher morbidity and mortality. In atopic dermatitis (AD), where skin barrier dysfunction and microbial dysbiosis are common features, S. aureus abundance and biofilm formation are associated with disease severity and flare recurrence. We previously demonstrated that a lysate of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG)- a common human commensal and widely used probiotic strain- can inhibit S. aureus attachment to human keratinocytes by m
