Cephalometric analysis is frequently used in orthodontics for diagnostic purposes, in order to evaluate the positional relationship of the upper and lower jaw to the cranial base, as well as to objectively asses the way dental arches relate to one another and to the skeletal base. As with other dento-skeletal anomalies, the normal growth process can induce changes in these parameters. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the skeletal and dental changes that occur in growing patients with Angle Class II division 2 malocclusion. The study also focuses on analyzing and comparing several param

The present case report addresses the treatment of an Angle Class II malocclusion in an adult female patient, long face pattern, with posterior open bite and dental arches extremely expanded, due to previous treatment. The patient and parents rejection to a treatment with orthognathic surgery led to orthodontic camouflage of the skeletal discrepancies. This clinical case was presented to the Brazilian Board of Orthodontics and Facial Orthopedics (BBO) as one of the requirements to become a BBO Diplomate.

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to compare Bolton's Overall and Anterior ratio in different types of malocclusions.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: 105 study cast were taken from the patients undergoing orthodontic treatment and they were divided into three classes based on molar relation, i.e. Angle's Class I (n = 35), Angle's Class II (n = 35) and Angle's Class III (n = 35) according to the Angle's classification of malocclusion. The mesio-distal widths of all maxillary and mandibular teeth from right first molar to left first molar were measured with a digital calliper. The findings were then

The relationship of age to condylar asymmetry varies for different groups of patients with temporomandibular disorders. Those with a problem of myogenous origin show a parabolic curve, while those with an arthrogenous problem show a linear relation. A group of control subjects with no signs or symptoms of temporomandibular disorders showed no correlation between age and asymmetry index. A group of 17 patients with no signs or symptoms of temporomandibular disorders but with Angle's Class II Division 2 malocclusions and deep overbite, was studied for an age-condylar asymmetry relationship. Only

The aim of this longitudinal study was to assess the relation between the transverse craniofacial dimensions of subjects with Class II, Division 1 malocclusion and the breathing mode presented by them. Forty Angle Class II, Division 1 malocclusion subjects of both genders participated in the study, 23 of which were predominantly nose breathers and 17 were predominantly mouth breathers. The mean age ranged from 10 years and 9 months to 14 years--Age range 1; and from 13 years and 4 months to 16 years and 6 months--Age range 2. Measurements of six transverse craniofacial dimensions were performe

Lateral cephalometric radiographs of 60 adult patients with Angle class 11 malocclusion associated with abnormal facial divergency were collected from the Orthodontic Department of the National Taiwan University Hospital. They were divided into a hyperdivergent group (35 cases) and a hypodivergent group (25 case), according to mandibular plane angle (SN-MP). The 19 landmarks on each cephalometric tracing were digitized into a computer, then computer-aided cephalometric analysis was performed to calculate the 17 skeletal measurements and 13 dentoalveolar measurements. The dento-facial structura

To present a case report of an orthodontic treatment of a high-angle, dual bite, Class II malocclusion without extractions and with the use of mini-plates. Class II malocclusion treatment protocols vary according to the morphological component of the malocclusion and the magnitude and direction of craniofacial growth. It is generally agreed that the cooperation of the patient and careful planning of anchorage are the key determinants of successful treatment. Protrusion of the upper and lower lip and a retrognathic mandible were the patient's chief concerns. The patient had learned to project h
