Mesenteric cyst is one of the rarest abdominal tumours, with approximately 820 cases reported since 1507. The incidence varies from 1 per 100,000 to 250,000 admissions. The lack of characteristic clinical features and radiological signs may present great diagnostic difficulties. The cyst may present in one of three ways: (i) non-specific abdominal features; (ii) an incidental finding; or (iii) an acute abdomen. Abdominal pain is the major presenting symptom. Abdominal mass is found in more than 50% of cases and 40% of cases are discovered incidentally. More than one aetiological mechanism is p

Mesenteric cyst is a rare condition. Presentation with non-typhoid spontaneous infection in an unusual area makes it even more a rare situation with mesenteric cyst. Its diagnosis is mainly based on the imaging modalities. However, there are difficulties in diagnosis when it is present in an uncommon area and rare known complications. Mesenteric cyst can present with few uncommon emergency conditions which pose difficulties in diagnosis as well as treatment options as mentioned in this case.

Paratubal cysts are adnexal masses located in the broad ligament; whenever the size of the cyst is >20 cm, it is considered a giant cyst and can present with complications including ovarian torsion and perforation. Diagnosis can be made clinically with the help of radiological investigations, although the gold standard diagnostic tool is diagnostic laparoscopy. Managing this condition relies mainly on surgical intervention (open or laparoscopic). Giant paratubal cysts carry challenges in their surgical excision as they carry a higher risk of spillage. We present a case of giant paratubal cyst

INTRODUCTION: Mesenteric cysts and cystic mesenteric tumors are very rare abdominal growths. They may be localized all over the mesentery, from duodenum to rectum, however, they are mostly found in the ileum and right colon mesentery. There are several classifications of these formations, among which the one based on histopathologic features including 6 groups has been most commonly used: 1) cysts of lymphatic origin--lymphatic (hilar cysts) and lymphangiomas; 2) cysts of mesothelial origin--benign or malignant mesothelial cysts; 3) enteric cysts; 4) cysts of urogenital origin; 5) dermoid cyst

7 new cases of cysts in the mesentery of the small bowel are presented, together with 54 clinically and histologically well documented cases from the literature. Most cysts are found in laparotomy for an acute abdomen. Almost half of the patients are under the age of 11 years. The cysts can be unilocular, multilocular or multiple. Cysts in the mesentery of the jejunum always had a chylous content. Most often the wall consists of an endothelial lining, smooth muscle, lymphatic tissue and lymphatic vessels. Inflammation and/or bleeding destroyed the endothelial lining and added granulation tissu

Introduction: Mesenteric cysts (MCs) are a rare pathology of the abdominal cavity (with an incidence of 1/27.000 to 1/250.000 admissions) and less than 1000 cases have been described in the specialized literature.Aim: To identify the characteristics of clinical manifestations, diagnostics, and treatment of MCs.Materials and methods: Within 2001-2017, 17 consecutive patients with MCs were observed. Ultrasound scan (n = 17), computed tomography (n = 15), and magnetic resonance imaging (n = 1) were used to diagnose MC.Results:</

Infected intra-abdominal cystic lymphangiomas are very rare. We report a case of a purulent mesenteric cyst, histologically a cystic lymphangioma, w which developed in a 1-year-old girl who presented with marked abdominal distension and high fever. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed that the huge cystic lesion occupied the entire peritoneal cavity. It originated from the mesocolon. It was removed completely, and contained sticky pus at the base where the right fallopian tube penetrated it, which indicated the focus of infection. This may be the first report of a purulent mesenteric cyst in wh

Hydatid disease mostly caused by Echinococcus granulosus is a common parasitic infestation of the liver. Most common sites are liver (70%) and lungs (25%). Intraperitoneal hydatid cyst is found in 13% and it is usually secondary to rupture of primary hepatic cyst. Primary intraperitoeal hydatid cyst is rare (2%). Primary hydatid cyst in mesentery is very rare. In this article, the author presents a case of primary mesenteric hydatid cyst with chronic pain in lower abdomen.

INTRODUCTION: Both mesenteric cysts and cystic lymphangiomas are scarce and clinically and radiologically almost identical derivatives, but their histological structure is fundamentally different. Case Presentation. A 52-year-old woman was consulted by a surgeon for a derivative felt in her abdomen. The patient said she felt a growing derivative in the abdomen about a month ago. After consulting and testing, a sigmoid colon mesenteric cyst (13 cm × 11 cm × 10 cm) was found. Complete excision of the cyst within healthy tissues was performed through laparotomy. The surgery had no complications.

BACKGROUND: Mesenteric cysts are uncommon benign abdominal masses. Approximately one third of patients with these lesions are children.
METHODS: We reviewed our clinical records for the past 14 years (corresponding to the period of time in which ultrasonography and computed tomography became reliable methods for imaging pediatric patients) and found 10 patients with mesenteric cysts.
RESULTS: We were surprised to discover that abdominal pain was a presenting complaint in all but one patient. Five of the patients had the findings of an acute surgical abdomen and were thought to have appendici

Mesenteric cysts are rare intraabdominal lesions of childhood that may vary in presentation from an asymptomatic mass to an acute abdomen. From 1970 to 1990, 15 children were diagnosed and treated for mesenteric cysts at Ste Justine Hospital in Montreal. The ages ranged from birth to 18 years (average age, 6 years). There were 9 boys and 6 girls. Ten patients required emergency surgery and five underwent elective surgery. The main presenting symptom was abdominal pain. Ten patients had preoperative ultrasounds that were diagnostic for a cystic mass in all patients. The second most frequent pre

OBJECTIVES: Mesenteric cysts (MC) are benign cystic tumors that grow within mesentery or omentum tissue. We have reviewed the cases of MC reported and operated on in our centre.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Retrospective review of clinical records of MC cases during the period 2002-2012 RESULTS: A total of 7 patients were found. Mean age was 5.3 years (range 3-11). Abdominal ultrasound was the diagnostic tool in all cases, except for one, which was diagnosed during laparotomy. All presented abdominal pain, 5 (71.4%) vomiting, 4 (57%) gross abdominal distension, 3 (42.8%) fever, and none presented co

Retroperitoneal cysts are most commonly found in relation to the small bowel but may be found in the mesentery of the colon or in the omentum. Only a few hundred cases have been reported. In the present analysis four more cases are reported and the pertinent literature is reviewed. The diagnosis is made by clinical suspicion, barium meal and/or enema, sonography and axial computerized tomography. Treatment of choice is by enucleation of the cyst, if possible. Morbidity and mortality should be very low, because of recent advances in surgery and intensive care of the patient.

A 32-year-old woman presented with dull, non-radiating lower abdominal pain that had persisted for two months and intensified over the preceding 15 days. She reported no gastrointestinal or urinary symptoms. Abdominal examination revealed a soft, non-tender, freely mobile mass measuring approximately 10 × 15 cm in the right iliac fossa. Differential diagnoses included ovarian cyst, uterine fibroid, and mesenteric cyst. Routine blood investigations were within normal limits. Ultrasonography revealed a large anechoic cystic lesion in the right iliac fossa and a smaller pelvic cyst. A contrast-en

INTRODUCTION: Mesenteric cysts are rare benign intra-abdominal lesions that can present with a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. They are most commonly located within the mesentery of the small intestine and are less frequently found in the mesocolon. Because their clinical presentation varies according to the size and location of the cyst, symptoms are often nonspecific, making diagnosis challenging.

Hemorrhagic mesenteric cysts are benign tumors that originate from the mesentery. They are rare, with a reported incidence of 1 in 100 000. They are often asymptomatic but can present with abdominal pain, a palpable abdominal mass, or even intestinal obstruction. Complete surgical excision is crucial to ensure optimal recovery and minimize recurrence. We present a case of a 55-year-old male patient with a history of progressive abdominal pain over a period of 10 days. Accompanied by abdominal distension, constipation, nausea, and vomiting. Physical examination revealed tachycardia, abdominal d
