Oral lichen planus (OLP) is among the most common oral diseases. Its etiopathogenesis has yet to be clearly identified. OLP patients complain of mouth dryness. This study aimed to assess the level of Mucin 5B in OLP patients with xerostomia. This study was conducted on 30 OLP patients and 30 healthy individuals. AIMS: Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is an aggressive tumour that is usually diagnosed at advanced stages and is characterised by a poor prognosis. Using public data of normal human tissues, we found that mRNA and protein levels of mucin 5B (MUC5B) and carbonic anhydrase 9 (CA9) were highly increased in gallbladder tissues. In addition, previous evidence has shown that claudin 18 (CLDN18) protein expression is higher in GBC. The aim of this study was to perform an analysis of these cell surface proteins during the histological progression of GBC in order to identify their theranostic potential.

Mucin-5AC (MUC5AC) is a major secreted mucin in pathogenic airways. OBJECTIVE: Otitis media (OM) is a common inflammatory disease spectrum. Cytokine signaling, neutrophil activity, and mucin hypersecretion during recurrent and chronic OM contribute to persistent, viscous middle ear (ME) effusions, hearing loss, and potential for developmental delay. Extraesophageal reflux (EER), specifically pepsin, triggers inflammatory signaling in respiratory mucosa and is associated with OM.
