Choroideremia (CHM) is associated with progressive degeneration of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), choriocapillaris (CC), and photoreceptors. As animal models of CHM are lacking, most information about cell survival has come from imaging affected patients. This chapter discusses a combination of imaging techniques, including fundus-guided microperimetry, confocal and non-confocal adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (AOSLO), fundus autofluorescence (FAF), and swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (SS-OCTA) to analyze macular sensitivity, cone photoreceptor outer

Pericardial disorders are a significant subset of common cardiac conditions with notable morbidity and mortality. Advances in treatment, particularly for pericarditis, have heightened interest in diagnosis and management of these disorders. Multimodality imaging consisting of echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR), and cardiac computed tomography (CCT) plays a pivotal role in the assessment of these pericardial disorders. Echocardiography offers real-time functional evaluation while CMR provides more detailed tissue characterization, and CCT excels in identifying calcification and

Imaging of patients with hyperparathyroidism has evolved over the last decade and transformed surgical management of the disease. Traditional bilateral neck dissection and exploratory surgery has been overtaken by focused, minimally invasive procedures in patients with single-gland disease. Accurate preoperative localisation of the involved parathyroid gland is the cornerstone for success of the new surgical techniques. In this article, the strengths, limitations and respective roles of different imaging modalities used to evaluate patients with hyperparathyroidism will be reviewed.

Multimodal imaging has become a vital pillar in modern ophthalmology. Initially this was restricted to retinal diagnostics but now this approach is central even to neuro-ophthalmology, where the retina and optic nerve offer an accessible window to the central nervous system. Multimodal refers to the strategic combination of diverse imaging tools to gather complementary structural, functional, and vascular information, ultimately improving diagnostic precision. In Neuro-Ophthalmology, we draw upon a wide spectrum of multimodal imaging techniques, spanning both ocular and non-ocular investigatio

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disorder characterized endometrial-like tissue present outside of the uterus, affecting approximately 10% of reproductive age women. It is associated with abdomino-pelvic pain, infertility and other non - gynecologic symptoms, making it a challenging diagnosis. Several guidelines have been developed by different international societies to diagnose and classify endometriosis, yet areas of controversy and uncertainty remains. Transvaginal ultrasound (TV-US) is the first-line imaging modality used to identify endometriosis due to its accessibility and cost-

Pediatric uveitis accounts for up to 10% of all uveitis cases, so special attention must be paid to ensure early diagnosis as well as treatment and follow-up of these young patients in order to decrease the risk of possible ocular complications and consequently vision loss. Multimodal imaging has been an effective and important adjunct in the diagnoses and management of uveitis, especially in children. Reviewed here are the currently utilized modalities, advances, as well as their applications in juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis, pars planitis, retinal vasculitis, tubulointerst

BACKGROUND: Choroidal metastasis represents the most common malignant intraocular tumours.
OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study is to detect the structural and vascular features of choroidal metastasis by multimodal imaging.
METHODS: Sixteen eyes of 16 patients with choroidal metastasis were enrolled in this prospective study. The multimodal imaging was performed in all patients: fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography, enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT), OCT angiography (OCTA), and ultrasonography.
RESULTS: The choroidal metastasis was located i

Retinal vasculitis presents with inflammation involving the retinal vasculature as an isolated disease or in combination with other ocular or systemic conditions. This entity may be associated with a wide variety of clinical manifestations such as vascular sheathing, cotton-wool spots, retinal ischemia, and neovascularization. Often, retinal vasculitis and its complications lead to diagnostic challenges in identifying the exact etiology of the inflammation. Ancillary investigations such as fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, and more recently, adaptive optics imaging and optical coher

Multimodality imaging of aortitis is useful for identification of acute and chronic mural changes due to inflammation, edema, and fibrosis, as well as characterization of structural luminal changes including aneurysm and stenosis or occlusion. Identification of related complications such as dissection, hematoma, ulceration, rupture, and thrombosis is also important. Imaging is often vital for obtaining specific diagnoses (i.e., Takayasu arteritis) or is used adjunctively in atypical cases (i.e., giant cell arteritis). The extent of disease is established at baseline, with associated therapeuti

Diagnostic investigation on pachychoroid spectrum disease (PSD) has been growing along with the rapid advancement of imaging technology. In optical coherence tomography (OCT)-based studies, choroidal thickness profile, luminal and stromal choroidal ratio, and abnormalities in the neurosensory retina have demonstrated various patterns in different clinical entities related to PSD. The emerging role of OCT angiography ()CTA) has been expanded to involve the quantitative analysis of the OCTA parameters in different clinical entities of PSD and to evaluate the choriocapillaris signal void and vess

PURPOSE: This report aims to characterize ocular changes in a case of ocular siderosis with iron toxicity using multimodal imaging and electroretinography.
METHODS: A 34-year-old woman presented with ocular siderosis of the left eye following penetrating injury with an iron-containing foreign body. The patient's uncorrected visual acuities were 20/60 and 20/150 in the right and left eye, respectively, with abnormal pupillary function and presence of a cataract in the left eye. She underwent successful intraocular foreign body removal and cataract surgery with no postoperative complications. C

Multimodal imaging relies on combination of multiple imaging modalities to precisely delineate pathological changes in the posterior segment of the eye associated with a wide range of conditions. This combined application of fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, fundus reflectance/autofluorescence and fundus angiography (with fluorescein, indocyanine green and/or optical coherence tomography) is of great utility for assessment of patients with ocular toxoplasmosis. Multimodal imaging is helpful to characterize the typical pattern of toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis, with primary focal
