The use of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) in cardiovascular disease (CVD) healthcare is an area of global growing interest for improving patient clinical outcomes. Historically, PROMs and PREMs have evolved over the last three decades through the development of standardized measurement sets and integration with digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems to support benchmarking and quality improvements in health servicing. As the global prevalence of CVD continues to rise, compounded by population aging and the shift toward commu

Patient-reported outcome measures are widely used to assess patient experiences, well-being, and treatment response in clinical trials and cohort-based observational studies. However, patients may be asked to respond to many different measures in order to provide researchers and clinicians with a wide array of information regarding their experiences. Collecting such long and cumbersome patient-reported outcome measures may burden patients, increase research costs, and potentially reduce the quality of the data collected. Nonetheless, little research has been conducted on replicable, and reprod

The International Society of Arthroplasty Registries (ISAR) Steering Committee established the Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) Working Group to convene, evaluate, and advise on best practices in the selection, administration, and interpretation of PROMs and to support the adoption and use of PROMs for hip and knee arthroplasty in registries worldwide. The 2 main types of PROMs include generic (general health) PROMs, which provide a measure of general health for any health state, and specific PROMs, which focus on specific symptoms, diseases, organs, body regions, or body functions. In the past 20 years, there has been considerable growth in the number of knee instruments and rating scales designed to measure outcomes from the perspective of the patient. Only a few of these instruments have been evaluated for reliability, validity, and responsiveness. The purpose of this systematic review was to examine the psychometric evidence of patient-reported outcome measures for the knee and identify the best scores for specific knee conditions. A literature search was performed to retrieve references relating to the development and evaluation of knee-specific instruments. Twenty-f

Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are often used to evaluate the impact of treatment and clinical decisions on the patient experience for patients with lymphoma. Regulatory agencies have provided guidance on the use of PROMs for patient-focused drug development. Though PROMs are increasingly utilized, the way in which they are used, analyzed, and reported is heterogeneous. This systematic evidence-based review will focus on how PROMs are currently used for patients with lymphoma, what domains PROMs measure, their clinical significance, links to clinical outcomes, and what gaps need to

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Treatment of anterior urethral stricture disease (USD) has shifted from endoscopic approaches to urethroplasty with significantly higher success rates among reconstructive urologists. This academic stance has led to a critical evaluation of "success" and developing disease-specific instruments to assess surgical outcomes focusing on patients' satisfaction rather than the historical goal of avoiding secondary procedures.
RECENT FINDINGS: Many disease non-specific and/or non-validated patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) have been utilized to evaluate the voiding symptom

BACKGROUND: Autologous ear reconstruction for microtia is a complex, multi-stage procedure. The success of the procedure is dependant on how the patient perceives the outcomes of surgery and their overall experience. Patient reported measures are therefore crucial to developing the technique and improving the patient journey.
AIM: The aim of this study was to use two reproducible patient reported outcome tools as an objective measure of microtia reconstructive surgery.
METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was performed at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), London and the Royal Hospital fo

Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are a vital part of the toolkit for the current practice of orthopedic surgery. We are witnessing the expansion of the use of PROMs in clinical practice and in research; the ultimate direction of this expansion is unclear. The purpose of this systematic review was to identify the trends in the use of PROMs in major upper limb publications over a 7-year period. We retrospectively reviewed all articles published in 6 of the most influential upper limb orthopedic journals based on impact factor from January 2013 to January 2020. PubMed, Medline, and Embas

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to assess the overall response rate of patients receiving electronic patient-reported outcome measures (ePROMs) following hand surgery and to determine the patient characteristics associated with responding.
METHODS: A Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act-compliant, web-based system was developed to automatically distribute ePROMs to patients undergoing hand surgery at five institutions with 22 surgeons. Patients who were at least 18 years old were eligible. The PROMs used were the visual analog scale (VAS) for pain and the Quick Disabilit

Scleroderma (systemic sclerosis) is a rare autoimmune connective tissue disease that can damage multiple organs and reduce quality of life. Patient-reported outcome measures capture the patient's perspective. Some measures are specific to systemic sclerosis and others are general. Patient-reported outcomes in systemic sclerosis are important to aid in understanding the impact of systemic sclerosis on patients.

IMPORTANCE: Given the role of patient-reported outcome measures in evaluating pelvic floor symptoms, concerns have been raised regarding whether their required reading levels are appropriate for diverse patient populations. It is important to ensure patients of varying health literacy are able to read them to ensure accurate symptom reporting.
OBJECTIVE: Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are invaluable in health care to guide clinical practice and measure outcomes in clinical trials. Studies of PROM readability have been limited by variability in readability formulas, calculators, and

Patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures are essential tools for assessing a patient's subjective experience related to disease and health. PROs measure symptom severity and evaluate treatment efficacy across a range of conditions at a particular point in time. Although PROs focusing on esophageal symptoms and esophageal hypervigilance exist, disease-specific PROs for commonly encountered benign esophageal disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), and achalasia are limited. Most GERD-specific PROs fail to address the complete spectrum of GERD pres

Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) have widely been used to assess treatment-related symptoms in clinical trials and provide insight into the patients' perspective during treatment. This mini-review sought to outline the benefits of measuring patient-reported outcomes, describe the most common measures used in recent pivotal studies in metastatic urinary cancers, and summarize the main findings published in the last 2 yr. In general, European Organization for Research and Treatment Cancer QLQC30 and Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy were the most common PROMs used in these trials.

Evaluating the effectiveness of orthognathic treatment can be difficult. To address this issue, patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) have been proposed as valuable instruments for understanding the quality of healthcare from the patients' standpoint. Therefore, the aim of this project was to employ PROMs and PREMs questionnaires to capture the patients' perspectives regarding their experience during the orthognathic treatment process, as well as their perception of their postoperative state. Preoperative and postoperative questionnaires wer

BACKGROUND: Hip injuries such as femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) and labral tears have become increasingly diagnosed and treated. However, different surgeons have utilized different hip-specific patient-reported outcome (PRO) scores, which makes between-database comparisons difficult. The aim of this study was to develop statistical crosswalks between commonly recorded hip-specific PRO indices for patients undergoing hip arthroscopy for FAIS.
HYPOTHESIS: High-fidelity statistical crosswalks would be generated between common hip-specific PROs.
STUDY DESIGN: Cohort study; Level of
