Effect of subchronic doses of phosphamidon exposure on humoral and cell mediated immune (CMI) responses were studied in male albino rats using SRBC, ovalbumin and KLH as antigens. Humoral immune responses were assessed by estimating antibody titre against antigen and splenic plaque forming cells (PFC) assay. CMI responses were studied by using leucocyte migration inhibition (LMI), macrophage migration inhibition (MMI) and delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) response. Here is an attempt to establish that a close relation exists between the chemical formulae of organophosphates and their affinities for lipids, proteins and water. We carried out this study on two systems similar to human plasma. First, each component was sorted, then the organophosphates were detected and titrated by gas chromatography with flame photometry detector. Thiophosphates had a greater affinity for lipids than phosphates. Fixation of proteins was only observed on three hydrophilous organophosphates: phosphamidon, dichlorvos, ciodrin.

We describe cases of pesticide poisoning of wild birds diagnosed at the National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service (Kyunggi, Korea) from 1998 to 2002. Forty-one mortality events (759 birds) of 87 incidents (2,464 birds) investigated were associated with pesticide poisoning, and six organophosphates or carbamates were identified as being responsible for the poisoning. Effect of subacute insecticide exposure was studied in male albino mice treated with phosphamidon, propoxur or aldrin at 1/40 LD50 dose intraperitoneally daily for 8 wk. The genotoxic effects of five pesticides (benomyl, 2,4-D, dimecron, monocrotophos, and vitavax) were evaluated in the rat bone marrow cytogenetic assay. The spectrum of aberrations observed included chromatid breaks, chromatid fragments, ring chromosomes, dicentric chromosomes, and chromosome fragments. It was observed that 2,4-D, dimecron, and vitavax were clastogenic, but the results obtained with benomyl and monocrotophos were equivocal.
