Formation and preliminary in vitro evaluation of a zinc polycarboxylate cement reinforced with neat and acid-treated wollastonite fibers.

Zinc polycarboxylate dental cement is known to form both molecular and mechanical bonds with native tooth materials. However, its relatively weak mechanical properties limit its applications. Wollastonite fibers, with different aspect ratios, were blended with ZnO, prior to its mixing with polyacrylic acid, at weight percentages up to 25%. Setting time, density, compressive strength, and Young's modulus of the formed composites were determined. Composition and morphology of the composites were determined by XRD, IR, and SEM before and after treatment in simulated body fluids. A slight delay in

[Comparative morphological characteristics of the pulp reaction to direct coating with therapeutic packings].

In experiments performed on green monkeys the molar pulp response to direct coating with calmecin and polycarboxylate cement saturated with the potassium nitric solution. Compared, the results of morphological pulp investigation showed the polycarboxylate cement with saturated potassium nitrate solution coating to be most effective. It had a rather good odontotropic effect and increased the protective action of the pulp. Polycarboxylate cement with saturated potassium nitrate solution coating is recommended for clinical trials to treat occasional pulp denudation.

Effects of Cuspal Inclination and Luting Agent on Fracture Load Values in Composite Resin CAD/CAM Crowns.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether change in cuspal inclination influences the fracture load values of composite resin computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) crowns. Abutment teeth and CAD/CAM crowns were prepared as they would be for treating a mandibular first premolar with two cusps. The CAD/CAM crowns were designed so that 1) the principal stress lines would be radially distributed from the two points of contact with the indenter to the occlusal area of the abutment (Type I), or 2) the principal stress lines would pass outside the occlusal area of the a

Reinforcement of Cement Nanocomposites through Optimization of Mixing Ratio between Carbon Nanotube and Polymer Dispersing Agent.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs), known for their exceptional mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties, are being explored as cement nanofillers in the construction field. However, due to the limited water dispersion of CNTs, polymer dispersing agents like polycarboxylate ether (PCE) and sulfonated naphthalene formaldehyde (SNF) are essential for uniform dispersion. In a previous study, PCE and SNF, common cement superplasticizers, effectively dispersed CNTs in cement nanocomposites. However, uncertainties remained regarding the extent to which all dispersing agents interacted efficiently with CN

Polycarbonate-urethane coating can significantly improve talus implant contact characteristics.

Talus implants can be utilized in cases of talus avascular necrosis and has been regarded as a promising treatment method. However, existing implants are made of stiff materials that directly oppose natural cartilage. The risk of long-term cartilage wear and bone fracture from the interaction between the cartilage and stiff implant surfaces has been documented in post-hemiarthroplasty of the hip, knee and ankle joints. The aim is to explore the effects of adding a layer of compliant material (polycarbonate-urethane; PCU) over a stiff material (cobalt chromium) in talus implants. To do so, we o
