Panic disorder in Thailand: a report on the secondary data analysis.

Panic disorder (PD) is one of the most common psychiatric illnesses in Thailand but the picture of PD in Thailand is not clear. Therefore, the objective of this research was to review, summarize, and analyse data from research reports concerning the clinical aspects of PD in Thailand. Relevant papers were searched comprehensively. Four groups of data including prevalence and incidence rates, sex differences, clinical symptoms during panic attacks, and scores of the Hamilton anxiety scale (HAM-A) were extracted where available. Data thus obtained were then grouped and compared. It was found tha

Primary care risk stratification in COPD using routinely collected data: a secondary data analysis.

Most clinical contacts with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients take place in primary care, presenting opportunity for proactive clinical management. Electronic health records could be used to risk stratify diagnosed patients in this setting, but may be limited by poor data quality or completeness. We developed a risk stratification database algorithm using the DOSE index (Dyspnoea, Obstruction, Smoking and Exacerbation) with routinely collected primary care data, aiming to calculate up to three repeated risk scores per patient over five years, each separated by at least one

Trends and determinants of tuberculosis incidence in Turkey: A secondary data analysis.

Tuberculosis remains a major public health concern, with incidence rates influenced by social determinants of health. Although tuberculosis incidence in Turkey has declined markedly in recent decades, the factors associated with this decline have not been comprehensively evaluated at the country-level. This study aimed to examine trends in tuberculosis incidence in Turkey from 1982 to 2021 and to identify determinants of tuberculosis incidence rates between 2000 and 2021, considering variables categorized under composite development, economic indicators, population, and health services. A long

An introductory practical guide to secondary data analysis in pediatric urology.

INTRODUCTION: Secondary data analysis (SDA) has become an increasingly important approach in pediatric urology, enabling the study of long-term outcomes, care variation, and disparities in populations with chronic or congenital urologic conditions. With the growing availability of large datasets, a structured approach to designing and conducting SDA studies is increasingly relevant. OBJECTIVES: To provide an introductory, practical guide to SDA in pediatric urology by (1) summarizing commonly used data sources with representative studies, (2) outlining a stepwise approach to designing and exe

BACKGROUND: Age and sex differences in sarcopenic dysphagia are unknown. The purpose is to characterize age and sex differences in sarcopenic dysphagia. METHODS: A cross-sectional and retrospective cohort study using information from the Japanese database on sarcopenic dysphagia was performed. We investigated age and sex differences between sarcopenic dysphagia and other forms of dysphagia. We investigated whether differences in prognosis for swallowing function, as assessed by the Food Intake Level Scale, and activities of daily living (ADL), as assessed by the Barthel Index were influenced

Sociodemographic Characteristics of Trans Persons in Belgium: A Secondary Data Analysis of Medical, State, and Social Data.

By performing secondary data analyses of existing medical, social, and state data, this study examined the sociodemographic profile of trans persons in Belgium and gains knowledge on those who are functionally invisible in traditional epidemiological studies or clinical samples. Based on medical interventions, post-operative transsexual persons were selected from a social survey data set, to compare their sociodemographic profile with available data on legal sex changes from the Belgian National Register and with published data on clinical samples of post-operative transsexual persons. The burden of injury in field hockey: A secondary analysis of prospective cohort data.

Most studies report injuries based upon their incidence rate, or the number of injuries which occur in a sport per unit of time. While this is recommended across numerous consensus statements on reporting injury data in sport, it may be of benefit to consider injury burden also. Reporting injuries as the duration of injury per 1000 exposure hours highlights those injuries which will likely cause greater disruption within a team. Therefore, the primary aim of this study was to report the burden of injury in field hockey. This secondary analysis of epidemiological data employed two methods of da

Polypharmacy, Opioid Use, and Fibromyalgia: A Secondary Analysis of Clinical Trial Data.

The major therapeutic approach for treating fibromyalgia (FM), a chronic widespread pain syndrome, is pharmacotherapy-centered symptom management. Complexity of treatment often leads to multiple medication prescriptions. While there is no current alternative to the probable need for polypharmacy in this patient population, there remains concern related to potential side effects and adverse drug events. In this secondary analysis of data on medications taken collected from two parent studies, all medications were broken down into the following categories: opioid, nonopioid, antidepressant, anti

The profile of young people seeking chiropractic care: a secondary analysis of data.

BACKGROUND: Chiropractic care for children has increased significantly in recent years and is now a commonly utilised healthcare option. Despite this, chiropractic's role in paediatric healthcare remains contentious. We performed a secondary analysis of two cross-sectional studies of chiropractic practice in Australia and Canada to describe the characteristics of paediatric patients presenting to chiropractors and to examine the reasons for seeking care, diagnosed conditions, and treatments provided across three age strata. METHODS: The Chiropractic Observation and Analysis Study (COAST) and

Linking stress and injury in the farming environment: a secondary analysis of qualitative data.

The first step in injury prevention is to understand the injury problem. This includes examining the nature of the problem from the perspective of the target community. This article uses qualitative methods to explain the nature of the injury problem and identifies prevention strategies through a three-step process: identify a causal model, validate the model, and identify strategies using the causal model. A causal model linking safety performance and safety demand, health decision making, and occupational stress was derived by secondary analysis of farm family focus group data (step 1) and v

Tuberculosis among Health Workers-A Secondary Data Analysis of German Social Accident Insurance Data from 2002-2017.

Tuberculosis (TB) is the most common cause of fatal infections worldwide. Recent TB figures in Europe indicate that 30 people were infected with tuberculosis each hour in 2017. Healthcare workers are at particular risk of being infected through patient contact. TB is the second most common occupational infectious disease among German healthcare workers. Routine data from the German Social Accident Insurance were used to examine trends in occupational TB diseases. We analyzed annual cross-sectional data for the years 2002 to 2017. The data underwent descriptive analysis. A total of 4653 TB case
