Evidence of vaccine protection among thai medical students and implications for occupational health.

In a cross-sectional study of Thai medical students, we compared the seroprevalence of antibody to measles virus, rubella virus, varicella zoster virus, hepatitis A virus, and hepatitis B virus with self-reports of prior infection or vaccination. Self-report predicted immunity to varicella zoster virus only. These data contribute to risk assessment and occupational health strategies in this resource-limited setting.

Obligatory occupational health check increases vaccination rates among medical students.

In October 2002 an obligatory occupational health check for all preclinical students at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg was introduced. Over the period 2005 to 2007, medical students started their clinical year either with or without a health check during their preclinical years. The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of health checks for preclinical students with respect to vaccination rates. At the beginning of the clinical year we examined 242 consecutive students, 121 with and 121 without a preceding preclinical occupational health check. The immunisation rate against hepat

Health Policy Perspectives-Realizing the Potential of Occupational Therapy in Supporting Postsecondary Student Mental Health and Success.

Postsecondary institutions around the world are grappling with how best to respond to what is described as a crisis in student mental health, with urgent calls for evidence-based advocacy, campaigning, and global action. In response to this call to action, in this article we advocate for a stronger role for occupational therapy in supporting student mental health in postsecondary settings through the enactment of the Okanagan Charter: An International Charter for Health Promoting University and Colleges, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2025. We share examples of innovative occupation

The impact of emotional labor on the mental health of vocational college teachers in China: the mediating role of occupational identity and the moderating role of teacher-student relationships.

Using a sample of 912 vocational college teachers in China, this study empirically examines the impact of emotional labor, such as surface acting, expression of naturally felt emotion, and deep acting, on the mental health of Chinese vocational college teachers. Robustness tests were conducted by replacing explanatory variables and research methods to explore the mediating effect of vocational identity on the relationship between emotional labor and mental health among Chinese vocational college teachers, as well as the moderating role of teacher-student relationships in this relationship. Jewish Students' Experiences of Antisemitism in Higher Education Settings and Daily Occupations.

An alarming increase in antisemitism compromises Jewish students' sense of safety and may result in occupational injustice. This study aimed to explore Jewish students' exposure to antisemitism and its impact on their mental health and daily occupations. A survey about exposure to antisemitism, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder seven-item scale, and the Brief Resilience Scale were completed by 147 university students nationally; 57.3% reported direct experiences with antisemitism and 63.4% were exposed as bystanders. This exposure jeopardized students' sense of safety, occupations such as socia

Risk of suicide and self-harm in university students entering different university programs - a national register-based cohort study in Sweden.

PURPOSE: It is not known whether the elevated suicide risk in certain occupations, such as health care professionals, is partly attributable to a selection of individuals with prior vulnerability. We aimed to determine the risk of suicide and self-harm already in students entering different university programs. METHODS: We used national registers to identify 621,218 Swedish residents aged 18-39 years with registration for a university program 1993-2013. Outcomes were suicide and self-harm within three years. We applied logistic regression analyses to calculate odds ratios (OR) and 95% confide

Student health policy of a German medical school--results of a cross sectional study concerning students' immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases.

Medical students come into contact with infectious materials early in their medical education. Aim of this study was to assess medical students' immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases and to ensure immunity against hepatitis B. An occupational health medical was offered to all medical students with special emphasis on preclinical students. The examination included a check of the certificates of vaccination and serological tests concerning hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus and, on request, HIV. A lecture on occupational risks and general precautions was given to the students. In 7 of 804 t
