OBJECTIVE: Obesity is a multifactorial chronic disease with a rising prevalence globally and in Pakistan. Despite this, public understanding and acceptance of obesity as a disease remain inconsistent, often contributing to stigma and delayed care. Examining how different groups perceive obesity is essential for guiding public health efforts and reducing weight-related stigma.
METHODS: This comparative analytical cross-sectional study included 264 participants recruited through convenience sampling between November and December 2025 from Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Lahore Medical College

This study aims to reveal how participation in self-governance shapes students' attitudes, skills, and orientations toward change within their educational environments.
METHODS: This qualitative study recruited current executive members and recent graduates who had served in the Japan Association for Medical Student

According to several English, Canadian and American surveys, burn-out syndrom can affect up to half of medical students during their studies, with the occurrence rate varying with the year of study. As is case for health professionals, a number of factors, be they individual-related, intrinsic to the job, or external, have been highlighted by this research. Burn-out can lead to serious personal, academic or professional consequences. Furthermore, there is an apparent correlation between burnout and a lack of professionalism, as well as between burn-out and a low [corrected] capacity for empath

The parameters evaluated included age, sex, headache characteristics (frequency, localization, severity, duration), premonitory and associated symptoms and family history. Headaches were classified using the Ad Hoc Committee (1962) and

Sleep paralysis is a sensation of an inability to speak or move other muscles when falling asleep or awakening. Sleep paralysis by itself has been reported as occurring infrequently and many clinicians are uncertain of its significance. In contrast, sleep paralysis in conjunction with sleep attacks has been reported as a concomitant of narcolepsy. To further examine the incidence of sleep paralysis, the responses of 80 first-year medical students, 16.25% had experienced predormital, postdormital, or both types of sleep paralysis. These episodes occurred infrequently--only once or twice for mos

BACKGROUND: The allocation of any scarce health care resource, especially a lifesaving resource, can create profound ethical and legal challenges. Liver transplant allocation currently is based upon urgency, a sickest-first approach, and does not utilize capacity to benefit. While urgency can be described reasonably well with the MELD system, benefit encompasses multiple dimensions of patients' well-being. Currently, the balance between both principles is ill-defined.
METHODS: This survey with 502 participants examines how urgency and benefit are weighted by different stakeholders (medical st

BACKGROUND: Diseases of the circulatory system are the most common cause of death in Brazil. Because the general population is often the first to identify problems related to the circulatory system, it is important that they are trained. However, training is challenging owing to the number of persons to be trained and the maintenance of training.
OBJECTIVES: To assess the delivery of a medical-student led cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training program and to assess prior knowledge of CPR as well as immediate and delayed retention of CPR training among middle school students.

BACKGROUND: Functional medical disorders (FMDs) refer to persistent physical symptoms that cause impairment or disability, but which cannot be explained by routine medical testing. Negative perceptions towards FMDs exist amongst a variety of healthcare professionals, including medical students. The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a course addressing FMDs for medical students in their first year of clinical training, which was integrated within the formal medical school curriculum.
APPROACH: A multidisciplinary team of eight healthcare professionals delivered seven teaching sessi
