Augmented Reality Surgical Navigation System Integrated with Deep Learning.

Most current surgical navigation methods rely on optical navigators with images displayed on an external screen. However, minimizing distractions during surgery is critical and the spatial information displayed in this arrangement is non-intuitive. Previous studies have proposed combining optical navigation systems with augmented reality (AR) to provide surgeons with intuitive imaging during surgery, through the use of planar and three-dimensional imagery. However, these studies have mainly focused on visual aids and have paid relatively little attention to real surgical guidance aids. Moreove

A fluoroscopy-based surgical navigation system for high tibial osteotomy.

High tibial osteotomy is a widely accepted treatment for unicompartmental osteoarthritis of the knee and other lower extremity deformities, particularly in young and active patients. However, it is generally recognized as a technically demanding procedure. The lack of intraoperative control of the mechanical axis of the affected limb often results in postoperative malalignments, which is one of the main reasons for poor long-term results. Moreover, inaccurate osteotomies, such as insufficient or excessive bone cut, or incorrect orientation of the chisel or saw blade, have been observed. A comp

Surgical navigation system for temporomandibular joint ankylosis in a child: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Computer-assisted surgical navigation systems were initially introduced for use in neurosurgery and have been applied in craniomaxillofacial surgery for 20 years. The anatomy of the oral and maxillofacial region is relatively complicated and includes critical contiguous organs. A surgical navigation system makes it possible to achieve real-time positioning during surgery and to transfer the preoperative design to the actual operation. Temporomandibular joint ankylosis limits the mouth opening, deforms the face, and causes an increase in dental caries. Although early surgical treatm

Case report: osteoid osteoma of the C2 pedicle: surgical technique using a navigation system.

An osteoid osteoma of the cervical spinal pedicle is rare and carries a high surgical risk because of the close anatomic relationship to the spinal cord, nerve root, and vertebral artery. We report the case of a 12-year-old girl with an osteoid osteoma of the C2 pedicle. Computed tomograms showed an oval nidus and marked sclerosis around this lesion at the right C2 pedicle. There also was expansion of the medial and inferior cortical bone of the C2 pedicle. After failure of nonoperative treatment, we planned surgery. Owing to concerns regarding thermal damage to the spinal cord, nerve root, an
