Optical coherence tomography has become an established method for imaging retinal diseases. It is now an accepted method for making quantitative measurements in studies on the cause and course of macular holes, vitreoretinal traction, pigment epithelial detachment, macular edema, and diabetic retinopathy. Its potential benefit in the evaluation of age-related macular degeneration and a variety of other diseases is currently under investigation. In clinical practice optical coherence tomography images add information to the biomicroscopic findings and results of other imaging techniques or func

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) has enhanced our understanding and management of retinal diseases, ever since the time-domain OCT was introduced in the early 2000s. The introduction of spectral-domain OCT in the mid-2000s and the later introduction of swept-source OCT provided faster scanning strategies and high-resolution images of the retina and choroid.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) was introduced in the 1990s in dermatology and is nowadays established as a noninvasive high-resolution technique for the in vivo evaluation of the skin. To date several studies have been successfully demonstrated the application of OCT for various dermatological questions. The main indication for OCT in the daily practice is the noninvasive diagnosis of nonmelanoma skin cancer such as actinic keratosis and basal cell carcinoma. OCT has also been shown to be a valuable tool in treatment monitoring and evaluation of therapeutic success of noninvasive treatment

A group of self-limiting and frequently neglected diseases exist in the literature like Rickettsial disease, Malaria, Dengue fever, Chikungunya, West Nile virus infection, Rift Valley fever, Bartonellosis, or Lyme disease which are poorly understood due to lack of proper diagnostic testing. Currently, multimodal imaging has become a critical modality in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is one such remarkable imaging modality in the field of ophthalmology providing high-resolution, cross-sectional images of the retina and choroid with the recen

Indirect ophthalmoscopy and handheld retinal imaging are the most common and traditional modalities for the evaluation and documentation of the pediatric fundus, especially for pre-verbal children. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) allows for in vivo visualization that resembles histology, and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) allows for non-invasive depth-resolved imaging of the retinal vasculature. Both OCT and OCTA were extensively used and studied in adults, but not in children. The advent of prototype handheld OCT and OCTA have allowed for detailed imaging in younger infant

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory and neurodegenerative, potentially disabling disease of the central nervous system. OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) and OCT-A (Optical Coherence Tomography with Angiography) are imaging techniques for the retina and choroid that are used in the diagnosis and monitoring of ophthalmological conditions. Their use has recently expanded the study of several autoimmune disorders, including MS. Although their application in MS remains unclear, the results seem promising. This review aimed to provide insight into the most recent OCT and OCT-A findings in M

Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) has become increasingly established as a diagnostic procedure in clinical practice in recent years. In the field of medical retina in particular, it serves as a useful aid to the morphological assessment of vascular diseases such as neovascular age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Technically speaking, it is a further development of optical coherence tomography (OCT) and therefore offers the advantage of being non-invasive. Even though other imaging modalities still need to be used for certain clinical matters, OCTA offers a

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) was one of the biggest advances in ophthalmic imaging. Building on that platform, OCT angiography (OCTA) provides depth resolved images of blood flow in the retina and choroid with levels of detail far exceeding that obtained with older forms of imaging. This new modality is challenging because of the need for new equipment and processing techniques, current limitations of imaging capability, and rapid advancements in both imaging and in our understanding of the imaging and applicable pathophysiology of the retina and choroid. These factors lead to a steep le

PURPOSE: Waardenburg syndrome (WS) is a rare condition characterized by six main features. It has been previously observed that WS is also associated with hypopigmentation of the choroid through multimodal imaging. To our knowledge, this is the first report of using swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) on a patient with known WS.
METHODS: Report of a single case. The swept-source OCT images were captured using Topcon DRI OCT Triton (Topcon, Inc, Tokyo, Japan), whereas swept-source OCTA images were captured by Optovue AngioVue (Optovue, Inc, Fremont, CA) using DualTrack

Early detection and monitoring are critical to the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, a progressive optic neuropathy that causes irreversible blindness. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) has become a commonly utilized imaging modality that aids in the detection and monitoring of structural glaucomatous damage. Since its inception in 1991, OCT has progressed through multiple iterations, from time-domain OCT, to spectral-domain OCT, to swept-source OCT, all of which have progressively improved the resolution and speed of scans. Even newer technological advancements and OCT applications, such

The optic disk and the RNFL are the principal sites of apparent glaucomatous damage which precedes glaucomatous visual field alterations. RNFL defects are known to precede detection of visual field defects by approximately 6 years. Accurate early detection and monitoring of ONH and RNFL defects has become the prime focus of effective management of glaucoma. Optical coherence tomography employs low-coherence interferometry to obtain cross-sectional images of the ocular tissues. This review attempts to critically analyse the applications of both, anterior and posterior segment OCT in glaucoma ma
