Tricholoma and Lanostane Triterpenoids from Tricholoma terreum and Their Anti-Inflammatory Assessment.

Tricholoma terreum is an edible mushroom widely consumed in Europe and China. In this study, we investigated the chemical constituents of the fruiting bodies of wild T. terreum collected from Yunnan province, China, which led to the identification of seven novel nor-tricholoma-type triterpenoids, tricholoterreins A-G (1-7), along with two known tricholoma triterpenoids (8 and 9) and four lanostane triterpenoids (10-13). Their structures were established by detailed spectroscopic analyses as well as equivalent circulating density calculations and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Apart from com

Indications of hepatic and cardiac toxicity caused by subchronic Tricholoma flavovirens consumption.

The yellow tricholoma (Tricholoma flavovirens or Tricholoma equestre) is a wild mushroom species that was previously considered edible and tasty. Recently, it caused several cases of delayed rhabdomyolysis in humans and elevated serum creatine kinase (CK) activities in laboratory mice (Mus musculus) in a dose-response study. The present study continued to examine the effects of prolonged T. flavovirens consumption at 12 g freshly frozen mushroom kg(-1)d(-1) on the plasma clinical chemistry and organ histology of mice. The plasma CK and CK-MB activities and the plasma bilirubin concentrations w

Effect and Mechanism of Tricholoma matsutake Extract on UVA and UVB Radiation-Induced Skin Aging.

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation often causes skin aging, inflammation, cancer and other related skin diseases. In this study, the main components of Tricholoma matsutake extract (TME) were identified using UPLC-Q-TOF-MS, and their anti-photoaging effects were assessed through UV-induced cell and animal models. The key components identified were D-mannitol (27.41%), DL-malic acid (14%), alginate (12.5%), isoleucine (4.82%), and phenylalanine (4.31%), all of which played roles in anti-aging and UV protection. TME (50-100 mg/ml) significantly alleviated UVA/UVB-induced erythema and wrinkles in mice. P

Tricholoma matsutake polypeptide modulates cardiac metabolism and restores autophagic flux to mitigate doxorubicin-induced senescence.

BACKGROUND: Doxorubicin (Dox)-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC) is initiated by acute stress that triggers early senescence-like phenotypes and severe metabolic maladaptation, yet effective therapeutic interventions remain elusive. Tricholoma matsutake polypeptide (TMP), a bioactive component from a medicinal fungus, exhibits antioxidant properties, but its potential to modulate cardiac energy metabolism remains unexplored. METHODS: In vivo, Sprague-Dawley rats were administered Dox (20 mg/kg, i.p.) with or without TMP (200/400 mg/kg/day) for 7 days. Cardiac function was assessed via high-resoluti

The (oxalato)aluminate complex as an antimicrobial substance protecting the "shiro" of Tricholoma matsutake from soil micro-organisms.

Tricholoma matsutake, a basidiomycete, forms ectomycorrhizas with Pinus densiflora as the host tree. Its fruiting body, "matsutake" in Japanese, is an edible and highly prized mushroom, and it grows in a circle called a fairy ring. Beneath the fairy ring of T. matsutake, a whitish mycelium-soil aggregated zone, called "shiro" in Japanese, develops. The front of the shiro, an active mycorrhizal zone, functions to gather nutrients from the soil and roots to nourish the fairy ring. Bacteria and sporulating fungi decrease from the shiro front, whereas they increase inside and outside the shiro fro

Tricholoma matsutake polysaccharides promote physiological germination and metabolic reactivation of Bacillus cereus spores: Mechanisms and application in milk preservation.

Spore-forming bacteria threaten food safety due to their extreme thermal resistance. Here, Tricholoma matsutake polysaccharides (TMP, 1% w/v) were identified as potent germination inducers for Bacillus cereus spores, enabling an effective germination-inactivation strategy. Across tested strains, TMP showed broad but strain-specific germination-inducing activity. TMP treatment reduced OD600 by more than 34% within 2 h, outperforming classical germinants (e.g., L-alanine, inosine). Physiologically, TMP reduced refractility and induced controlled ion release, with conductivity approximately twofo

Effects of extracts and compounds from Tricholoma populinum Lange on degranulation and IL-2/IL-8 secretion of immune cells.

Tricholoma populinum Lange is an edible basidiomycete from the family Tricholomataceae. Extracts, fractions, and different metabolites isolated from the fruiting bodies of this mushroom were tested for degranulation-inhibiting activities on RBL-2H3 cells (rat basophils). Dichloromethane extracts decreased degranulation significantly, as did a fraction after column chromatography. In addition, the extract decreased the IL-2 release from Jurkat T cells and the release of IL-8 from HMC-1 human mast cells. The results show the significant effects of extracts of T. populinum on cells of the innate

Structure revision of tricholomenyn B, an antimitotic geranylcyclohexenone rediscovered as a bitter and antibacterial substance, from a basidiomycete Tricholoma japonicum (Shiro-shimeji).

Tricholomenyn B, an antimitotic geranylcyclohexenone originally discovered from a basidiomycete Tricholoma acerbum, was isolated as a bitter and antibacterial constituent from fruiting bodies of T. japonicum. Careful comparison of NMR, MS, and other physicochemical properties of the isolated substance with the literature values revised a previously proposed macrolide structure 1 to a macrodiolide 2. Compound 2 was perceived bitter at a minimum dose of 37.5 μg, showed weak antimicrobial activity against Kocuria rhizophila and Staphylococcus aureus, and was marginally cytotoxic (IC50 2.6 µM) aga
