The Tripleurospermum (L.) Sch.Bip, (Asteraceae) genus, comprises 30 to 40 species widely spread in the northern hemisphere, and across the Mediterranean region. Out of the seven taxa encountered in Greece, four can only be found in specific areas, with limited spread throughout the country. The current work describes the phytochemical investigation, using modern analytical techniques, of the differences between the aerial parts of T. tempskyanum and T. rosellum collected from two floristic regions of Greece (Lesvos isl. and Mt. Parnon) and the common chamomile (Matricaria recutita). GC-MS was

Rosa damascena, Tripleurospermum disciforme and Securigera securidaca were used as disinfectant agents and for treatment of some disease in folk medicine of Iran. The antimicrobial effects of different fractions of seeds extract of S. securidaca, petals extract of R. damascena and aerial parts extract of T. disciforme were examined against some gram positive, gram negative and fungi by cup plate diffusion method. The petroleum ether and chloroform fractions of S. securidaca showed antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, while its methanol fraction had

Diabetes mellitus and Alzheimer's disease are interconnected, with type 2 diabetes raising dementia risk. Decoctions and infusions of Tripleurospermum monticolum (Asteraceae) are traditionally used to treat cough, stomachaches, and fever, while its flowers are commonly brewed into tea to alleviate stomach discomfort. The study examined the inhibitory effects of methanol and aqueous extracts from T. monticolum (capitulum, root, and aerial parts) on key enzymes (acetylcholinesterase, butyrylcholinesterase, α-amylase, and α-glucosidase) and assessed antioxidant activity, as well as the total phen

Hydatid disease, a zoonotic disease, is still endemic in many developing countries that is caused by the metacestode of Echinococcus (E.) granulosus. Surgical management is one of the best choices for the treatment of the hydatidosis and using effective scolicidal agents during hydatid surgery is essential to prevent the secondary infection. The aim of the present in vitro study was to evaluate the scolicidal effect of the methanolic extract of Myrtus communis and Tripleurospermum disciforme against protoscoleces of hydatid cyst. Protoscoleces of E. granulosus were aspirated aseptically from i

This study evaluated Tripleurospermum inodorum extract for cytotoxic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antibiofilm properties, alongside its phenolic profile, predicted pharmacological interactions and in vivo anti-inflammatory properties. The methanolic extract of T. inodorum was rich in apigenin derivatives, including apigenin-O-pentoside (5.234 mg/g) and apigenin-O-acetyl hexoside (4.929 mg/g), as identified using LC-DAD-ESI/MSⁿ. The extract demonstrated potent anti-inflammatory activity (IC₅₀ = 8.4 µg/mL) by inhibiting nitric oxide production in a RAW 264.7 macrophage mod

The development of new drugs derived from plant sources is of significant interest in modern pharmacy. One of the promising plant sources for introduction into pharmaceuticals is Tripleurospermum inodorum (L.) Sch. Bip., also known as Tripleurospermum perforatum (Merat.) M. This plant has been shown to possess various biological activities, including anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antimycotic activities, among others. However, a review of the current literature reveals a paucity of studies investigating the chemical composition of the herb Tripleurospermum inodorum (L.) Sch. Bip. This s

This paper evaluated the frequency, magnitude and dose/concentration range of hormesis in four species: The aquatic plant Lemna minor, the micro-alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata and the two terrestrial plants Tripleurospermum inodorum and Stellaria media exposed to nine herbicides and one fungicide and binary mixtures thereof. In total 687 dose-response curves were included in the database. The study showed that both the frequency and the magnitude of the hormetic response depended on the endpoint being measured. Dry weight at harvest showed a higher frequency and a larger hormetic respons
